Found this Hostilerie while wondering around Diksmuide on a warm afternoon, there was a beer garden outside with nice big tables and chairs with some shaded from the sun by big parasols. We walked in and started browsing a menu on one of the tables and a young man came out and asked if he could help us.? Yes I said, we are lucking for a snack lunch, nothing too heavy. He pointed to the light bites section and asked us if we would like a toasted sandwhich ( his english was excellent, unlike my flemish.) Perfect for us so we decided on two different ones. My wife chose the one with cheese n ham with salad garnish and I chose the one with pineapple rings on the toastie. My wife then asked the waiter what the soup of the day was, Tomato with meatballs replied the waiter, we will have two as well then she said. Half a beer and fizzy water later the soup turned up in what we thought was a really big bowl with 3 pieces of bread with butter on the plate. The soup was piping hot just as we like it served and tasted lovely. That would have been enough really but we were given a mini break in between courses to sit and people watch around the other tables that were filling up quickly due to the weather. Thats one of the things we love about eating out in Belgium, no waiters rushing the next course onto your table.!!After an ample amount of time our snack !! sandwiches came out. We both received two, thats 4x slices filled with ham, thick melted cheese. Mine then had two rings of pineapple covered in melted cheese on top. The SNACK then was adorned with salad garnish which included lettuce, sweetcorn, mini pickled onions, gerkins, tomato, red cabbage and sliced artichokes and two mini pots of ketchup and mayo.-PHEW, It must have taken us half an hour to try and devour this delicious SNACK. what a cracker. Yes we will visit here again and try another MEAL.

Wanting lunch here at 2pm we found almost everywhere had stopped serving. Then we stumbled on this lovely restaurant and saw the chef wandering around chatting to guests. We were lucky to secure one of the last tables. The fixed price menu was excellent value and the soup was one of the best I've ever tasted.Service was friendly and the atmosphere very congenial .Obviously well patronised by the locals we were very glad we found this little gem!

Cozy restaurant with a good and frendly service. We only work with fresh and high Quality products , and that you wil see and taste .
beautiful building in local architecture style - we were looking forward for a snack in the sun on the terrace. No food served on terrace. OK for drinks ; but we waited for half hour to be served whilst terrace was not full and inside their were ample people. no repeat visit for us.Hello, i'm suprised that the staff is not frendly ! Iff we don't serve food on the terrace its because eather we have no waiters enough or there is to much work in the kitchen ! That you have to wait for à half hour that is very long , i would-be gon in 15 minutes because thats allready long to sit and wait. Have à nice day

We had the typical Sunday evening blues but that was changed the moment we got to the restaurant. Service was good nice and busy restaurant and then the food was spectacular certainly one of the best ribeye steaks I've had in a long while. The best is that I've been there no 4 times and it's been consistent service and food every time.

Looking fairly unprepossessing from the outside, this restaurant packs a knockout punch for its sheer theatricality. Opening the door, you find yourself looking down into a space something like a cross between the Titanic, an opium den, and the Tate Modern. And just when you start thinking this must be a case of style over substance, the food arrives - not without its share of drama, but certainly with no sacrifice of flavour. What's more, it's unpretentious - hard to pull off for a fairly expensive restaurant that delivers such a memorable experience. Veggie and vegan choices aplenty - and imaginative dishes, too - made it even more of a treat for us.Just one note: if your kids are fussy eaters, leave them at home.

Been here for brunch, been here a few years ago and now again but been to a lot of places where you can brunch and here is not the best place. For the amount of 65 euros??? In other places You pay from 57 euros upto 59 euros but get much more service and hospitality. You get only 1 glass of cava, the You get Your lobster very quickly. It's a half baby lobster and not every lobster has the same size. And then You can go to thu buffet where You have to wait in a very long line for several minutes to pick Your plate. The let everybody go to the buffet at the same time, so You get a very long waiting queue. It's like throwing 1 bowl of food to 10 hungry dogs: everybody throws himself at the buffet. In other places with such a brunch: the boss and staff come to a few tables to tell You You can go to the buffet. Not all the tables at the same time, this system resultst in normal waiting lines. So it's all in the arrangement and organisation. And they ask much more money than other places. For dessert we were waiting and waiting at our table because the queue was very very long but by the time the queue was a bit more normal some customers had been 3 times allready to the dessert buffet... No more this place for me, rather go to other places where You can sit more relaxed and really enjoy the food and service.

There is no more sincere love than the love for good food. The address where gastronomy and conviviality find each other.
The food was very good and with had a lot of flavours - family business with husband and wife - very nice reception and relaxed atmosphere - the menus were only in Flemish or French - The lady could not speak english but that did not put any barriers to our enjoyment of the food as the lady was very accommodating
