Warm Welcome despite no reservation.Grill with flames. Quick service, good local beer (we tried amber and white, both are good, our preference went to the white on tap). White sausage shared as a starter was good. The pepper streak was fantastic with good fries. Tiramisu a bit surprising (go for the meat not for the dessert).Good time and feeling home. Recommended

We've visited this nice restaurant twice. You can expect great service and good quality food. Price/quality rate is excellent. Nice choice of flemish dishes in a superb setting. Very stable family business. Better reserve to make sure you can get in.

We were looking for a meal and found the Au X nestled down a side street just off the main drag.. Very good quality food and a wide selection of Belgian beers on offer.... Choice of inside or streetside tables added to the ambience on a very warm September evening

Going on the TA reviews we decided to try this restaurant. It was fairly easy to find. The night we went The Markt was very quiet. Most of the surrounding restaurants werenât even open. We were served very quickly, the downside was there were no menus in English, so rather than ask the waiter to translate every dish we managed to pick out a few dishes. Hubby went for the ribeye, and said it was lovely, and quite impressed that everything was lovely and hot, especially the chips. I had the penne gratinee. Not so good, the pasta was floating in a thin flavourless cream with a grilled ham and cheese topping. It was not very enjoyable at all. My grandson (who loves pasta) had the childrenâs portion. Even he left his. Definitely would not be ordering that again. 1 beer, 1 water, 2 OJ, 3 dinners ( 1 childrenâs menu) â¬65. The food was well presented, and it was very clean, the waiter was very helpful, but unfortunately two out of three dinners were left. I would eat here again but with a different choice of food

Saw this place whilst walking along the promenade and were immediately attracted to the view it offered.Built to have the restaurant about a floor or two higher than the promenade the outside area offers great views of the coast with large glass panels to reduce the effects of the wind. We had stopped just for a coffee, but noticed on the menu a waffle dish with advocaat which we had to wait until 2pm to order, but it was very nice.Good place to break a walk along the promenade

Cuisine avec des produits de saison et une carte qui change toutes les 3 semaines en inspiration du chef ... .
Food is not bad although the Chef could not take some more lessons at e.g. Le Cordon Bleu. Some of the ingredients are not matching each other or dominating each other. But generally food is ok. Service is rather "plate delivering" service. And not interested in Clients - the women prefers rather watching tv.That is a pity.

Last W.E. we invite our family to have an anniversary meal, because 2 of our eldest daughters and ourselves with a mariage jubilee should celebrate together. Our 3 tiny granddaughters were the firsts served, and that was a very good point in service. So the mama's could feed them and for the rest of our meal they all were lucky and quiet, not disturbing other diners. Two of us choose codfish, one choose steak, and two other adults choose Côte à l'Os 3 sauces. All meat dishes are acompagned with excellent handmade belgian fries, and the 2 fish dishes and the 2 eldest granddaughters had potatoe puree. We have eaten it all, and took dessert at home. It's just a walk away from home. We paid 200 euros, and that is very fair. We return regulary and owners and staff are very good to the point. Even they knew in advance the childrens ages, and they had dressed the table with these elements of age. Sublime !

Very friendly welcome (and valet service). Staff is professional without stiffness. Somelier surely knows his job and is passionate about his wines (a list at reasonable prices). We went for the Primavera set menu and started with 4 appetizers of which the ceviche and the salmon could please us most. First starter is 'incontournable': the panko breaded shrimp croquette: perfection. The risotto with mustard, which came with the second starter: super. The second main course with chicken: cooked to perfection. We decided to add a nice cheese platter, chosen from the charriot with all Belgian products. We ended with a very good cassata. With the coffee came a variety of après desserts, many of which we couldn't eat anymore because 'to much'.Mr. Buyens cooks to perfection, the products are high end, the cooking times perfect, the tastes blend wonderfully. But we missed originality, surprises or rock 'n roll attitude. All dishes are perfect and honnest but colored inside the lines.

Amazing hot chocolate with lots of little accompaniments. We were very lucky to find this place as it is hidden away up a residential street and came upon it by chance. If you come down the slope from Hotel Donny, turn right and the café is on your left in about 30 yards.

We decided to have a walk on the beach and a nice meal before getting on the ferry. We chose this restaurant close to the beach and the car. It has a great beach front location. Very helpful staff. Food was great - soups were delicious, steak excellent, beautifully cooked fish. Service was a little slow giving us less time than ideal to get to our ferry. The slight anxiety of the ferry queue was worth not eating on board!
