The borough of West Chester is proud of its long history of hospitality, having hosted its first visitors way back in 1769. These colonial roots still show, with over 3,000 surviving structures dating from before the Revolutionary War. The tree-lined downtown area is listed on The National Register of Historic Places, with such a large collection of Greek Revival buildings that the town was named Athens of the West. It's the perfect place for a relaxing day spent walking and window-shopping.

I decided to give this place a try for something different. People were raving about the pizza. It was just OK in my opinion, nothing to write home about. The reason for the bad review is that the service is terrible. Our food was ready at different times and some of the hot items came out lukewarm. The staff was just hanging out and it wasn’t terribly busy so I’m not sure why the poor service. Sadly I don’t think I will bother going back.

Loved our meal here. Two of us had pasta dishes that were delicious. I had clams over pasta in a garlic, white wine sauce. The best clams I have had in a long time. I had a asparagus side which was also good. Friends had salmon and enjoyed theirs as well. Great wine offering and we enjoyed a very good bottle. Desserts were also good and enjoyed a great cup of coffee. Service was excellent.
It is very noisy and lively her so if you want a quite meal this may not be the place for you.
I can't wait to go back!

This is the fanciest Cajun restaurant I've ever seen. It's probably the only place I've ever seen that decorated in Mardi Gras style that I would actually call tasteful! The food was a bit pricey, but it was delicious. The servers were constantly around to re-fill your water glass.
Parking is difficult. There's a parking garage nearby that costs $3. Which incidentally, means I spend $3 less at my destination since I have to get back that cost.

This bustling busy place has been and is predictably fun and enjoyable. We've been coming here for years and it only gets better. The menu has something for everybody, and the bar is provides excellent drinks at reasonable prices. Whether you're here for a burger or a steak, fish & chips or salmon filet, you'll get an excellent version of it. It's a little loud here, but we never let the sounds of people enjoying themselves get in the way of our good time. Good food, good drinks and good service add up to a consistently good experience.

dolce Zola is a modern Italian lifestyle restaurant. Our story starts in northern Italy. Reimagining classic dishes into our own chef driven creations using local and organic Lancaster farm ingredients. 1% of profits are donated every month to help our community.
This is one of the many local spots that we stop in for dinner. Usually we don't "plan" to go here, but we often end up here. The choices of pastas and sauces is very good and constantly good.

Four Dogs Tavern and the adjacent Marshallton Inn (not a hotel) are both eating establishments with identical menus. The Marshallton Inn also has an extensive wine list, where as Four Dogs Tavern does not but has a fantastic local and regional draft craft beer selection.
The service is outstanding. Seating in this old stone and timber building has several dining rooms upstairs and down, as well as a cozy bar with fireplace. There is a huge outdoor covered patio with fire pit.
Now the best!.......The food is spectacular! Excellent French Onion Soup, perfectly done Escargot and the Shrimp Lejon (huge & plentiful) is the easily the best I have ever had. Their Crabcakes regularly appear as a special and are made with fresh Crabmeat in Scallop & Shrimp Mousse. Mine were served with incredible Grilled Asparagus, thick but tender.
Finally, perfection in dining! Quality all-around.

I was just there last weekend for Christmas party and we were seated in the basement. What a great earthy comfortable and classy restaurant. The food was excellent and everything was just so delicious. I had Salmon with potatoes and great creamy lemon sauce and string beans but I've also tried their steak and wow! The appetizer was delicious and so was the desert( creme brûlée). The wines were all quite dry and light. Overall wonderful satisfying dinner.

I've been to Carlino's numerous times for sandwiches over the years and have always loved them, but yesterday was the first time I have ever tasted their tomato pie and it will definitely NOT be the last. Their tomato pie is the real deal. It's not just a pizza with no cheese...it is a fresh crust with real tomatoes, which = FABULOUS. This is a must if you are visiting. I also picked up a Carlino's pre-made caesar salad which my husband and I both described as "the best caesar salad we have ever had." It was extremely fresh and delicious. Do yourself a favor and visit Carlino's West Chester or Ardmore if you ever get the chance.

Used to be the location of Avalon which moved a few blocks away. I believe they left their magic at this local and Spence 312 now has it! BYOB -- smallish and intimate. Not a huge menu but varied and everything we had was very good if not excellent. Soups were home made -- both the split pea and mushroom were excellent. The grilled caesar salad was very good but would benefit from some fresh parm. Braised short ribs were EXCELLENT. crab cakes and scallops were very good. Service was a bit inexperienced but tried hard to please. I prefer the table by the fireplace but we were not lucky enough to get it.....front tables were a bit cold when door opened.
