Reviewed By Omg1967I have stayed here several times before as it is a very handy location to everything we want. I haven’t been for a couple of years and have noticed a decline in the condition of the rooms. We had 3 rooms- one had a tv that didn’t work and despite us telling them, this wasn’t fixed while we were there. It also has expired milk in the fridge and a questionable brown stain on the duvet. The one I stayed in was almost impossible to unlock the door to get in. The cups were dirty and the paint was peeling off the vanity and hallway, as well as hair in the shower. Not pleasant. On the plus side the beds were very comfortable. I doubt we will be back which is disappointing.

Most hotels/motels close to the Hospital are adequate however the difference has always been Tim and Felicity‘s friendly helpful, open personalities. They clearly enjoy there profession which speaks volumes to my overall positive experience when staying there. I’d highly recommend the Southgate Motor Inn if you need accommodation close to Wellington Hospital.

With three single beds in one bedroom, and a queen bed in the other, a little kitchen and living room, it was perfect for us. Plenty of easy parking, and super friendly staff. The rooms were really cleaned and were serviced each day. The location is ok, in a suburb close to the city. You can drive, bus, or train to the city :-)

Easily the worst stay i've had any any motel or hotel and i've been to hundreds.. the alarms kept malfunctioning and they are right above your head and way too loud. worst one was at around 1:30am which scared the living crap out of me as right above my head. Worst was to come when i made this made to the Motel and got a blunt response from their manager Harry who said complain to the government.. not even an apology. Stay away from this place.

We are just build 10 units and upgrade all old units recently. We are conveniently located just 300m off SH 1 and set back from Newlands Road. We are the last motel off SH 1 before the Interislander ferry, 5 minutes drive to Interislander ferry and 7 minutes to Blue bridge ferry. Just 7 to 10 minutes to the central city, Te Papa, Westpac Stadium, Hutt Valley and Porirua. We are on the main bus route to Wellington and within 1.5km of restaurants, rail and shopping centre. Service and facilities include 24-hour check-in, guest laundry. Wireless broadband internet, facsimile facilities. Cooked or continental breakfast, cot/highchair available. Large lawn play area with a swing and a slide, ample off-street parking,
Worst accommodation EVER!!!

Our child was pulling fluff and hair out between couch swabs, black hair in shower, dirt and dust in corners, bedbugs not to mention a used sanitary pad under the couch. Gross. We had booked for 2 nights and demanded full refund but the manager refunded 1 night stay and 50% off the first night. NEVER AGAIN....

Convenient and comfortable
Reviewed By stukaren2016We stayed here arriving at 11:30pm after crossing on the late Bluebridge ferry. This was no problem for our hosts who no doubt regularly cater for this, and a very clean comfortable room was ready for us. We did not require meals so cannot comment on this, but as a very convenient comfortable place to stay close to the ferries Capital Gateway ticks all the boxes.

The room was very clean and tidy, however it took forever to connect to the WiFi. When I questioned them they told me it was working fine but sometimes dropped out because of the wind? (It’s Wellington for crying out loud!!). One morning after being up most of the night working, I jumped in the shower later than usual and there was no hot water - again, they told me that there was unlimited hot water (obviously just not in my room?). After coming in from a late meeting with clients one night, there were no car parks left so I had to park up and around the corner - not ideal. BUT the room was very clean, everything was there and the bed was comfortable. Just not ideal for what I needed!!!

Reviewed By RetoB136It was okay, nothing special, however convenient. We could walk to downtown area to see a bit of Wellington and have dinner at the sea. The hotel is okay, but could use some improvement and refurbishment.
