Once the largest western outpost of the British Hudson's Bay Company, where supplies and food were bartered in the 1800s, it was closed in 1860 as Americans took over commerce. The outpost was later recreated as the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. For more history, check out the Pearson Air Field, the oldest operating airfield in the West, where vintage aircraft are displayed at the Pearson Air Museum. If adventure is your bag, Vancouver is the perfect base for day trips to the Columbia River Gorge, the breathtakingly beautiful 70-mile river stretch that cuts through the Cascade Mountains, or Mount St. Helens, the site of the famous volcano, both of which offer a slew of outdoor activities. For calmer pastimes, cruise the picturesque river in the Columbia Gorge riverboat, or visit Beacon Rock, the world's second largest monolith, where a walking trail leads to spectacular panoramic views.

Biscuits offers a great breakfast. The quality is consistent between locations. Service is excellent and fast. I strongly recommend this place for breakfast as it has a fine menu with multiple choices.

I absolutely loved this place! Such good, hearty food and at terrific prices. The service was amazing. We were a large group of eight. We ordered and received our food in no time. Our wait staff was very friendly, spent time talking to us, and even snapped a few pics for us.I ordered the Country Skillet at the suggestion of our wait staff. This was HUGE! Very tasty potatoes topped with a country fried steak, covered in peppery cream gravy, and then crowned with two sunny side up eggs. My-oh-my! This was excellent, but so much food that I honestly could not eat the rest of the day. It came with 4 slices of toast which I could not touch at all. Throw in a bottomless cup of coffee and I was a happy morning customer.Bring your appetite and ask for a to-go container when you love it, but just canât finish it in one sitting.

This restaurant is noted for it's LARGE portions. Along with that comes the large bill. My guest had 1/2 of a bacon, cheese omelette and it was double the size of any other restaurant's regular size. I had hash browns with ham and cheese 1/2 order. Both of us had take-out containers before it was over. One coffee, one orange juice and a bill of over $40+. The place is always packed with a line out the door and not just on weekends. Only open for breakfast and lunch. NOISY place tho. Booth next to us kept yelling because he would see old friends. Along with the rest of the chatter and noise, it got a bit annoying.

Small, locally owned restaurant, using fresh ingredients. Small, yummy and delightful menu. My favorites: french toast or Monte Cristo for breakfast, and the best chicken salad sandwich for lunch.
We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and great food. I believe it was the owner who served us. He was very warm and friendly. The atmosphere is fun and classy, with eclectic decorating including different salt and pepper shakers on each table. I had the "Everybody's Breakfast." All was good but the rosemary potatoes were really special and delicious. My British friend ordered poached eggs and raved about how well they were cooked- said that is hard to find. They make their own teas, so it has the element of being a tea house. A very pleasant breakfast spot -highly recommend.

Oh my goodness! Visiting Vancouver and was antiquing along Main Street and found this place for lunch and so glad we did! The Loaded Bloody Mary!!! (Wish I had taken a picture!) 6 people and we all made different choices and no one was disappointed. Liked that they were using a ketchup made in Portland (we plan to order some from portlandiafoods.com) Would recommend this restaurant (really wish it was in my home town)

On Hayden Island, thereâs something wonderful besides bridges and boats floating in the water: the Island Cafe. Our vibrant decor and lively team will quickly transport you from Portland to paradise. And our open dining room overlooks the marina and is fi
We stopped by this restaurant for dinner on our way into Portland. It is on an island and the restaurant is floating on a dock. There was a wait but they had seating for those who were waiting and it was a great place to enjoy the fresh air after a long drive. We enjoyed watching the geese and ducks swimming around the marina and the boats coming and going.Once we were seated our waitress was prompt and friendly. She answered our questions about menu items and did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. Our family of four ordered a variety of items including a Hawaiian burger, fish and chips, fish tacos, and a lobster roll. All items were fresh and delicious. The portions were plentiful. We also took a couple slices of key lime pie to our hotel to eat later. The waitress had packaged everything in containers so the whipped cream and limes would not melt on the way. Definitely recommend! We couldn't be happier that you and the family were able to enjoy a little bit of everything off our menu! When you're traveling, sometimes the best moments are enjoying the simple moments by the water, watching the geese go by as you enjoy a great meal with those you love. We were more than happy to answer all your questions and make sure you got exactly what you were craving. If you ever find yourselves in Portland again, we'd love to have you back for another memorable meal with the family. Take care, Island Cafe Team

This Is A Bakery And Small Cafe For Sandwich Salad And Soup
Fell into this place on a weekend family visit to nearby portland. The weekend brunch was excellent: corned beef hash was filling; blueberry breadpudding was wonderful; beignets were delightful; biscuits and gravy were a total highlight because the biscuit quality was amazing. Plus, our coffees were strong! Worth the 30-minute wait. Would definitely come back.

After reading g the reviews I was disappointed in the food. The service was excellent though. My hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and soft inside. My patty sausage was tasteless and my over medium eggs were not cooked enough. The whites were undercooked (snotty).
