This restaurant was discovered as we were exploring the lovely country side of Vashon Island. Although the Melita Creek Restaurant is located at the Vashon Golf & Swim Club, it is open to the public. They often have a special, two dinners for $42.00 including a bottle of wine. We thought for sure that we had misread the menu but the dinner did come with a bottle of wine. The dinners had a couple of main courses to choose from. When we were there, the chef had run out of the prime rib option so we were offered anything we wanted on the menu. Since the weather was a perfect late summer, early fall evening, we ate outside on the large veranda. There as we sipped the wine, we could see the mountains in the distance and the lush rolling green of the golf course. The food was excellent as well as the service. We will certainly return to this delightful find!
Towards the Vashon Theater, near the Zombie Restaurant and across from the Vashon Presbyterian Church is the relatively new Glass Bottle Creamery. We stopped there on a warm June evening to try their handmade ice creams and sorbets. My boys tried the coffee chip and mint chip. I tried their toasted coconut and one of their fruit sorbets. They were both dairy free. I tried them as a single (two flavors together!) in a gluten free cone. I was impressed by the variety of options available in their dairy free and gluten free areas. Their servings were generous. They have ice creams as well as cakes available in their tiny shop on Vashon Highway. They are also at the Saturday's Farmers Market in their bicycle driven cart. Worth a visit and try.
You won't (yet) find this hidden gem jammed with air b&bers or Amazoners. It's out of the way and absolutely great. Patty is well known for her tamales, and now she is serving them up for breakfast. Also, her Korean heritage comes into play at lunchtime. All in all its a treat of authentic, delicious flavors and people.
The Ruby Brink has finally arrived! After a long and arduous journey through a variety of challenges, Vashon has another 'go-to' place for family and friends. The trio of proprietors are working hard to get past the initial opening jitters, but had nothing but does to share with each new guest. We dropped in on a Saturday evening and were treated promptly and given an accurate wait time. Once seated, we enjoyed a well crafted cocktail as we waited for out meal. The decor is crisp, modern and warm. Waitstaff were prompt and engaged each table with just the right amount of attention. We started with the mixed vegetable plate, enjoyed the beef and lentil bowl and the roasted cauliflower sandwich entrees. Two cocktails, one appetizer, two entrees came to $65 plus tip. Definitely will go back and enjoy the newest venue on Vashon!

So, I've eaten at this place several times, always found it a bit pricey... and yes, the food is well prepared for the most part. The service is attentive (every 5 minutes). There were 3 of us, no drinks ordered. Two of us ordered a salmon dinner, which was suppose to include potatoes. Unfortunately, the size of the salmon was not only tiny,(like a mini appetizer), but there were maybe 5 tiny cubes of something other than potatoes.. We mentioned this to the server, asking her about the portion and no potato despite what the menu stated. She just smiled. .. .... It felt like a rip off for $27 per person. We were so hungry afterwards we ordered and split a burger (very good). Our bill was nearly $100....I most likely will not return. However if you want a place with a decent atmosphere, and order the chicken, or the trifecta burger, perhaps you'll find satisfaction, as those look like a real meal.

Located on Vashon Island near Seattle, Wa.
Fantastic meal at the " The Hardware Store". High quality meals prepared and equivilent to any 5 star Manhatton NY restaurant. Priced reasonably well for the outstanding quality receivedl and offers good selection of entrees, and share plates. Wines appear to be paired well and menu offered GF (Gluten Free) and staff appear knowledgable of cross contamination issues for Gluten Sufferers and proper handling. Server, Gabriala was outstanding. Very attentive, great recomendations on several items and had great customer service approach.
