Our family had dinner here recently. Although our server was lovely and was very helpful recommending a great beer for my husband to try, the food was horrible. Most of the things we ordered were noted as "house specialties" on the menu, so we were particularly surprised at how awful they were. The cornbread was stale and dry and served with a frozen tub of what appeared to be butter (we sent it back and it was replaced with the exact same (gross) thing even though the server acknowledged it was frozen); they ran out of spinach for the spinach salad so it was served with romaine lettuce but that also had to be sent back twice (wrong cheese, no chicken) and the berries on it were over ripe, mushy and inedible; the coating on the cod sandwich was so thick that my husband literally could not bite through it to get to the fish. We chose this restaurant based on the good reviews - maybe we visited on an off night but we definitely would not recommend it.Hello Laura,My name is Jeff Cooney and I am the General Manager of the Steam Plant Kitchen + Brewery. Our first visit was a bit later in evening yet Travis made us feel most welcome. I asked if they had cucumber vodka and was happy to hear yes! Then asked for Hendricks Gin .. another yes so asked that they concoct my favorite drink - equal parts of both shaken and served up with cucumber (The KathyTini). We all had good food served by our lovely waitress Sharon. My girlfriend said the Shepherd's pie was great and my husband and hers had hamburgers which were beautiful! Bacon maybe? Had pictures but they are all mixed up! I had the fish and chips and it was halibut and fabulous!!!! My husband and I returned about a week later and Travis knew my drink as soon as I walked in and proceeded to get it processing! I had oyster sandwich this time .. still looking for great oysters. It was good but sorry I didn't have the fish and chips again. My husband again had the hamburger - with bacon? In all it was another wonderful experience and Heidi, our waitress was great. Kudos to you Travis for having your finger on the pulse!
