Warrenpoint is a small town and civil parish in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies on the northern shore of Carlingford Lough and is separated from the Republic of Ireland by a narrow strait. Bric Cafe

Reviewed By WarrenpointMermaid - Warrenpoint

I have been meaning to go to the Bric Café in Warrenpoint for ages, because I love crêpes, but only made it there for the first time very recently.
The building is small and quite narrow, and I imagine if you go between 12 and 2 it might be very busy, as I know it is popular with locals during their lunch hour. My sister, niece and I arrived just after two and there were still people at a few tables finishing off their lunch. However, we got an empty (clean!) table close to the door which was nice, as there was a bit of a breeze. I didn't notice if there was aircon in the café. If not, I imagine it might get quite hot at the tables down the back. I liked the decor and atmosphere and the staff behind the counter were friendly and helpful.
The range of items on offer on the large wall menu is not huge by any means, as it is really just crêpes, bagels and scones, but there is a myriad of fillings on offer. To my niece’s delight, crêpes were both savoury and sweet, and I suspected she’d opt for the latter.
My sister and I ordered a ham, cheese and egg crêpe (une crêpe complète in French, if I remember correctly) and my ten year old niece chose maple syrup with vanilla ice cream. These were all large and well filled. My niece couldn't finish hers - unfortunately I hadn't thought to ask if they did child-sized portions. We had two very decent Americanos and my niece had hot chocolate with marshmallows. I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but I know it was really good value for what we had (I think it was under £20 but that doesn’t seem possible) and will definitely return.

The Canal Court Hotel is central in Newry, just across the Canal from the main bus station.
Inside is bright and attractive and welcoming, and the Restaurant/Bar is just beside the Reception area.
Found a seat in the busy Restaurant and was served shortly afterwards. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful throughout, and although there were plenty of Diners, everyone was being well looked after.
Ordered Beef Roast, which was served with Mash Potato, Roast Potato, Cabbage and Carrot, and was very enjoyable.
The Canal Court Hotel is an attractive location and is well used and busy, and good.

The Bank Bar & Bistro

As the name might suggest, this venue was once a bank, but don't imagine a transformed local branch of Northern Bank this is a grand, towering building with ornate ceilings and has been restored to its former glory, encompassing some original features, and with the original bank vault located behind the bar, it gives a very unique style and decadence. Its history that props up the bar here at, The Bank - quite literally. These days, it's well worth investing some time in a bar where you can bank on a friendly welcome, good company and a fine pint. The Bank Bar attracts a loyal band of regulars as well as a city-centre mix of shoppers, passers by and students, many of them lured in by the promise of good food, good music and great times, and at the Bank Bar we do not disappoint. Situated in Newry's Town Centre, just 5 minutes' walk away from the main shopping area, you can experience fine dining in a lavish yet relaxed and comfortable setting, whether it's a quick lunch away from the office, socialising with a group of friends, cocktails with the girls, craft beers with the lads, an intimate celebration or even just calling in for a coffee. At The Bank Bar & Bistro, you're more than welcome

Recently visited but once again service was terrible and rude staff. Starter was tasteless, main course and dessert was good. Wine ordered for table but had to wait 20 mins for glasses to put it in. All meals did not come out together some getting main courses when others nearly finished. Bar staff used hands to add fruit to drinks when tongs clearly available and when asked to provide fresh drinks using tongs stormed off from bar leaving us standing there.

We had heard that this restaurant had new Italian owners and decided to give it a try. Wow! Wonderful food served by the most attentive staff. The wife and husband owners couldn’t do enough to provide an excellent service. The Italian chef visits every table and chats to all customers to ensure all is well and gives recommendations on wine. No pizza here, just quality Italian food at its best. It’s not cheap but it’s all cooked fresh, so quality not quantity. If I hazard a guess I would say that in time to come you will have to book here. Great for a special night out.

That’s about as busy as Monday should get. Smoked apple cheese, caramelised onions on a thick beef patty with pulled pork. I never rant about burgers, but this one deserves a standing ovation. ‘The Big Mo’, get involved!
