The South Island town of Wanaka appeals to both adventure lovers and relaxation-minded travelers. Situated on the crystal-clear waters of New Zealand's fourth-largest lake, just a short drive from Mount Aspiring National Park, Wanaka is an ideal spot to go fishing, hiking, skiing, wine-tasting or golfing. Local New Zealand food ,Stonegrill
Consistently high TA reviews have been fully justified in our recent experience. Pre-booking is essential as confirmed by every table taken during our dinner in which we decided to restrict ourselves to stonegrill eye fillet and sirloin steaks. The food quality and size was excellent and the novelty of self cooking on the C400° stones at your table certainly works. Wine menu selections offered excellent matching choices for the meal and the overall experience was memorable. Service was engaging even under some competing demand.Recommended.

Unlike most of the establishments we've visited in NZ over the last two weeks, the service at Kai was not only super friendly, but it also worked, so we were not only provided with what we'd ordered, but actually pretty quickly too! Elsewhere service has still been delightfully friendly but either parts of what was ordered were missing or it took an age to arrive. Not so here! Everything first rate!

Offering carefully presented, simple contemporary cuisine, made with the freshest and most local produce available. We keep it seasonal, we make it fresh. We offer classic cocktails made to perfection, wines sourced from the vineyards that surround us and beyond, along with well crafted local and imported beers.
The restaurant is located on the 1st floor and has a nice view over the lake especially when having a balcony Seating as we had.
The service was very nice and especially the food was more than excellent in quality, taste and price. Tje wines are good and well priced.
Although the menu looks like it is more challenging all dishes we had were outstanding and a compliment to the chef. The starters and mains are all done with great care and the mix well chosen. Do not let you get scared about the combinations and I would highly recommend to try it.
For us it was the best for days and for sure in Wanaka.
Enjoy

With our lakefront setting, spectacular views of the majestic Southern Alps, contemporary and innovative cuisine, and fresh daily baked goods, Relishes Cafe has become something of a Wanaka institution. We are open from 7am till late offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy a glass of wine from our extensive list of local and New Zealand wines or a cup of locally roasted fair trade organic Venus coffee in a casual atmosphere. In summer, the double French doors are opened wide to fully enjoy the stunning lake view, and in winter, a roaring fire displaces the chill after a day playing on the Mountains. As a family run business, we welcome even the littlest members of your family by providing a children's menu, a well loved toy box, and a highchair. We happily cater to special dietary needs and also to special events when our in house baker creates delicious cakes to celebrate your occasion! With an abundance of local produce, meats, eggs, and wine grown in the Otago region on our doorstep, there is no need to go further afield for ingredients that will create flavours to delight the palate. Dishes highlight seasonal produce, locally found herbs like horopito, free range eggs, and meats that come from the region, some coming from just down the road. Drawn by the allures of Wanaka after many holiday visits, brother and sister Toby and Tash, along with Tash's husband Paul, bought Relishes Cafe. Showcasing their passion for food, wine, and travel, the trio are frequently seen both in the kitchen and on the house floor. Head Chef Silvia has traveled the world and has an extensive culinary background including experience in Europe. She draws on her international experience to whip up culinary fusions with a Kiwi touch. Serving up twice daily blackboard specials, she and her team continuously bring something new to the table.
Although there are numerous places to eat in Wanaka it was recommended by the motel that I eat here. It definitely did not disappoint. The lamb loin was unbelievably tender and flavorful, served on a most tasty quinoa salad. Good friendly service. Large share tables if you are solo. Can eat inside or outside.

We are the locals choice of cafe with a deli cabinet full of freshly made salads, frittata, crepes, and more. There is a full range of breakfast and lunch options from our blackboard menu. We also serve freshly made muffins, scones and a selection of slices and cakes. In all cases there is a good selection of gluten free options.
We stumbled across this amazing cafe in Wanaka!
There was a lovely buzz and the food smelt great!
We had bacon and eggs and boy this did not disappoint!
The coffee was good and the service fast and helpful.
This is a hidden gem on the high street - the sandwiches looked to die for and for a reasonable price!
Highly recommend !

Had read reviews and this restaurant was also highly recommended by our Kiwi hosts and it sure didn't disappoint.
The owner Mitu is very professional and polite and since we didn't have a table reservation offered to lay out table for us at the entrance. However, after some time she offered us a table inside, which was very cosy and nice. The Chicken saagwala was prepared just right and so were the crispy buttery Naans.
On finding a piece of wire in the curry they offered us another dish or a dessert and deducted some amount from the total bill. The gesture spoke well of them as true professionals for it was obvious she knew that we were tourists and were not likely to go there again, but reputation in business is everything and they understand that very well.
The staff too is very polite and courteous. They have been trained very well.
It is obviously a very popular restaurant with all the tables full and a constant demand for takeaway, and not only the food but their attitude is what has earned then the success they deserve.
Highly recommended.

The Cardrona Hotel serves up a modern take on traditional pub fare. Fresh, fast and filling you'll find all your traditional favourites created from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Our wine list features top quality local drops from some of the region's best wineries, along with a great selection of both tap and bottled beers, ciders and a full range of spirits. In winter the apres ski is legendary, while the sunny beer garden is the perfect summertime spot for a long lunch.
We had the chance to visit Cardrona Hotel on our way back to Gibbston Valley around 6pm. Had the most beautiful fish chower (full of fresh shell-fish) and hot toasted bread. Friendly staff and the old-style pub atmosphere that we love. If you can't stay...MoreHi curlydogs4, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad you enjoyed our 'famous' Seafood Chowder, it has certainly earned a reputation for itself thanks to wonderful customers like you spreading the word.

Pembroke Wines and Spirits offers the wine lover an extensive selection of Central Otago wines, superb New Zealand and Australian wines, and other distinguished wines from around the world. The craft beer enthusiast will find Wanaka's largest selection of New Zealand craft beers to drink in or takeaway. We are also proud to have three varieties of Emerson's beers on tap. Located at 24 Dungarvon Street, Wanaka, John and Karen have set up the kind of place where you can get a decent glass of wine from a hand-picked list for an honest price. The unique idea of combining wine retail with a wine bar is proving popular with locals and tourists alike, so next time you're in the area drop by Wanaka's favourite wine and craft beer hangout.
Located near the entrance to the New World Supermarket, it is well worth making your wine and beer purchases here. Especially if you are looking for quality wines and beers. Pembroke has an excellent ad eclectic selection of both wine and craft beer. Apart from being able to buy wine and beer to take away, there are also some available by the glass. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. This is a great place to sit back and relax.

Loved my entire experience with Federal Diner. I had called to make Reservations and then our plane was delayed into Queenstown so we were arriving into Wanaka later than expected. They were extremely flexible and friendly and seated us later with no issues. The waiters were all very friendly as well. I had the risotto special that was fantastic! Great tucked away and quiet location and fantastic food.
