Great hotel with a lovely onsen on the rooftop (hot baths, both indoors and outdoors in the fresh air, are available). The hotel staff were extremely friendly. Easy to park your car directly outside the hotel for YEN400 per night). Our room was small but spacious enough for two people. A mini-fridge, kettle, slippers, dressing gowns, shower products etc. are available in the room. Good tasting coffee-machine is available free of charge in the lobby, so we were able to have coffee whenever we wanted. A good number of Japanese restaurants (for dinner) are within 2-4 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Japanese style breakfast only. We will definitely stay there again.

This hotel is so empty in Winter low season (very cheap too), I barely saw a tourist during my stay. Room is cozy and comfortable, service is warm and helpful. Located next to the seaside, about 10 mins walk from the station.

This reasonable priced hotel is located directly in the heart of the city's surprisingly good nightlife. You can find really good restaurants and cocktail bars just a few seconds walk away from the hotel. Also, the train station can be reached within a 15 minute walk. Make sure to get a room in the main tower and not in the "new tower" since those in the "new" annex are quite outdated whereas those in the main tower are very modern and nice. Equipped with a large bathtub, a massage chair, moveable beds and nice lighting. However all rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is really good Japanese home cooking featuring some rare ingredients like mountain vegetables only found in the area. Free internet and onsen hot spring baths are provided as well. Definitely recommended for a stay in Wakkanai.

For some reason I could not figure out, the two more popular Wakkanai establishments were asking for silly money the Saturday night in August when I was in Wakkanai. So I went looking for alternatives and found this one. It is a much smaller hotel, and quite a bit older, but located roughly in the same area. Not much to say since we checked in late after our ferry from Rishiri Island and stayed only one night, but the room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was pleasant.

This is a smoking hotel through and through. I am a smoker but even I felt it was a bit too much. For smokers who love to puff in the lobby, in the room and everywhere else, this is the place for you! I cancelled our 3 nights reservation the moment we checked into the room. Not because of the smokes but because the room is so dated and so cramped with a window that looked onto the air conditioning outdoor equipment ledge. The bathroom is absolutely tiny, worse than space constraint Tokyo! The feeling of the room is just yuck! Luckily the guy at the reception was kind enough to allow cancellation of the next two nights, we just had to stay the one night which was barely bearable. For a budget motel suited for travelling salesmen, the price is ridiculously high.

I am a japanese tourist and went around Hokkaido with a rent car and we stayed this hotel (actually Ryokan style) for one night with my wife and three naughty kids (7,4, 2 years old) and my room was tatami room. The hotel has big parking lots so you can park your car. It was good for us who drove to hokkaidou in the summer holiday. The room is a big tatami room with futons and it is no issue at all for a family of 5 people. The hot spring (natural one I believe) is big and great. My stay doesn’t include meal but you can find convenience stores nearby. There is no laundry inside but it is big coin operated self-laundry shop by 10 min walk. I think most of the guest are for busines (or short holiday for a large family like us) so I can say this is a business hotel, looks no foreign guest but I am sure they will welcome as they are so kind.

We booked two Japanese style rooms with personal bathtub & toilet, and the room are clean & tidy although which have a little bit smell of cigarette but the room is with big window and that cause no problem for us . The master of hostel is kind, friendly and polite and always with beautiful smile on her face, and the location of the hostel is quite close to the fish market but with little bit away from JR Station , but with drive is okay for us and there are place outside the hostel for parking cars. The dinner is very very nice that I never have before, which includes hokikaido crab, roast fish, beef, scallop , shrimp, fresh vegetables, fruit and also hot pot with famous octopus. We enjoyed this fresh seafood dinner with my family in that night. Meanwhile, the breakfast is also very nice which are full of fresh vegetables .We spend a good day in hostel and we only spend one night in there as we have many schedule. We highly recommend to traveler who will stay in wankani and we will stay here again if we visit wankani next time.

Hotel Kito is outdated hotel but good enough for sleepover. A room is just fine nothing extraordinary, however, what’s so special about the hotel is its public bath. It got special hot spring with hints of oil makes your skin softer. Apparently it’s good for skin related complications. The hotel is located but far from Wakkanai Station so one needs a car or lift to have a dine there.
