Star of India is an Indian takeaway located at Wesley Street in Ossett. Indian food is eaten in courses to create a complete and balanced meal. So why not start your meal with a very tasty Garlic King Prawn or a Royal Mixed Kebab. There are plenty of Trad
A very warm inviting welcome. Lovely modern design and very clean. Waiters very attentive & happy to explain the menu. The food when it quickly arrived was plentiful not too spicy, which suited my choice.Yes ,would be happy to go again, and recommend to any one.Take your own wine.

Great food, good service BUT cold and uncomfortable in the restaraunt . When the weather is cold outside it would be an idea to turn the heating on mid afternoon to warm the place up. We will not visit again in the winter months if itâs going to be cold.

A TRULY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE OF FINE DINING. On the 4th of October 2015 we opened Amaia on Northgate in Wakefield to offer a unique concept in cutting-edge Indian food style and methodology. At Amaia we have pride and take confidence in bringing the Traditio
This used to be 1 of our favourite restaurants but tonight we left disappointed. It wasn't busy for a Saturday so no atmosphere. The staff were friendly enough but nothing special. In the past the service has been fantastic, including the greeting on arrival, but tonight we did not feel special. The food was tasty enough but not as good as our locals.Has there been a change of management?

We ate here the recommendation of the owner of our B&B (Heath House). It is a bring your own and the prices were very good value. Our host, Ali, was lovely and gave us just the right amount of attention. The food was delicious, freshly prepared very well spiced and the proportions were very generous indeed.

Went here on the way home from YSP.Very friendly staff and great service. Clean and tidy.Itâs going through an upgrade so small niggles like wonky chipped tables will no doubt be sorted out.Food is decent and good sized helpings.BUT. Please sort out the plastic. Itâs distressing to see the amount of plastic being used. Plastic cutleryLittle plastic pots of sauce which I guess are just binned. Plastic for rice So come on do your bit Abdul and get with the the times. Please.

A popular bring your own alcohol restaurant
Absolutely love this place definatley the best Indian in Wakefield last visited on Saturday and already planning our next visit for this week! Highly recommend. Fab food and really lovely friendly staff they really cant do enough for you, they are always asking if everything is ok and even offered to cook our order in frylight. Visited about 5 times to eat in with friends and had a fair few takeaways this year so far. Take your own alcohol, cash only, soft drinks to be bought in the restaurant. I advise to book a table as everytime when we have been in they have got really busy. Thanks Syhiba :)

On the website it advertises a 5 course meal Wednesday and Sunday - in fact this seems to be Wednesday to Sunday. It costs £11.95 and includes a glass of wine. It consists of popadoms with dips, a starter, a main course with rice or nan and either ice cream or coffee, which is not exactly 5 courses but is loads to eat (I ran out of steam half way through my main course). My main course was delicious (chicken Murgh with sweet chilli) and I had garlic nan which was the best I have ever eaten. My main criticism is that it is quite confusing because the menu is not set up for this deal and some things (lamb chops, fish and prawns) carry a supplement which varies. However, we had the mixed starter which included lamb chops and the supplement was only £1 for both of us. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a car park right next door but unfortunately this is a private car park and seems to carry a charge regardless of the time of day. Over all a delicious meal and great value

Authentic Indian Street Food Thali brought to you by The Yorkshire Indian. Now serving Street Food Indian Tapas.
Went to the red lion last night. Chosen because of the good reviews. Almost left as soon as we saw the dining area, it's dismal and dirty looking, but because of the reviews we stayed. The Thalia is not that big, big enough for me but I think a man would want more food, saying that it was delicious!! I told the chef so when leaving, but also mentioned the decor, he tells me it's due for a refurb at the end of July, so shall wait and see, shame if it's not as it could be lovely. I have only rated it with one star because of the state of the place, not because of the food! Cleaned and repainted and I would give it all 5 stars. Thanks for choosing us to try our wonderful Authentic Indian Cuisine. We really appreciate that you took your own time to choose us over anywhere you wanted to or could have visited. We are glad that you thoroughly enjoyed the food, as have many of our diners.Yes, you did mention to the Chef that your friend was upset about the decor. The Yorkshire Indian started as a kitchen takeover at The Red Lion and would never cook food or serve food in any dirty surroundings so we think it is unfair that you use the word. There is a plan for the pub to decorated the previously 'un-used' extension, but other than a spruce up, we have never had such an unfair appraisal by anyone. We believe your 1 star to unfair seeing as you did share that you came for the food and that you thoroughly enjoyed.I hope you give us another try and by then we will have painted the ceiling for you as thanks what you stated that your friend had an issue with. Many thanks. The Yorkshire Indian @ The Red Lion.

The restaurant is lovely , nicely decorated and clean. The service was good but the food was not great.my husband will only eat plain food and ordered scampi and chips. The waiter couldn't understand why he wanted scampi and tried to change his mind and even offered to cook him liver. When his scampi came we knew why ,my husband couldn't even chew some of it . It was tiny pieces and very overcooked and the chips were thin frozen fries. When he complained he was offered other food off the menu and liver again . His excuse for the food was ' we don't get asked for scampi and I don't know how to cook it '. Well please take it off the menu if you can't cook it .
