The hotel offers a parking slot which is definitely very useful in Volterra. Unfortunately, it is a bit far from the center (20 mins on foot, walking uphill). We stayed in the second building, which is very quiet and has spacious rooms. The receptionists can give you very useful information about restaurants.

I actually extended my stay in Volterra for the reason that I loved the hotel, it was clean and although a little compact still suited my needs. Guilia in front reception was just amazing (nothing was too much for her) the breakfast was outstanding and served by a beautiful lady and finally the location was perfect. it was possible to walk everywhere and there was just so much to see in this lovely town. Yes I certainly would stay again and recommend the hotel to others. Perhaps if there is a negative it would be that there was not a chair in the room but certainly would not make an issue of it as I got by.

La Locanda il Boschetto is situated in the heart of Tuscany, just 10 km from Volterra, a city full of historical treasures, 15 km. from S. Gimignano, with its majestic towers, 35 from Siena, with its famous Palio and 45 from the nearest sea. The structure is so named because it lies just outside a forest of oaks and holm oaks where you can go to escape the summer heat. The Locanda il Boschetto has 6 rooms among double and triple ones (all equipped themselves with TV, refrigerator and private bathroom with shower), and inside a restaurant where you can taste the most genuine and classic recipes from Tuscany, accompanied by a selection of the most famous Tuscan wines. Our goal is to offer our guests a relaxing journey, trying to bring them closer to the Tuscan culinary tradition. Our kitchen is trying to be as genuine as possible, making use wherever possible, of products from our garden, those of the forest, our olive oil to prepare some types of handmade pasta, pickled vegetables, jams, cantuccini biscuits and many others sweets. We gladly welcome all kind of animals who can enjoy the same holiday of their owners, surrounded by greenery.
This little place doesn't look much, but once your in you want to stay. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We stayed one night here on our way back from Liguria to Sweden. First thing that happened when we sat down for lunch was that our dogs were offered water. Marvelous food, for a good price. When having dinner, we were very impressed by the capacity. Suddenly two big companies arrived, one with 10 people and one with 8 people. No problem to get them seated, and as far as we could see they were all served without delay and seamed as pleased as we. The only thing we missed was air condition in the room. But you can't expect everything in a small countryside B&B like this. Though - breakfast could have been a bit more varied than sweet cakes. However, the coffee was very good.

The Pecora Nera "Black Sheep" is a bed and breakfast with a poetic soul and a passionate heart with Tuscany all around . Elisa the hostess and expert in cheese, welcomes you in a relaxing and elegant atmosphere to make you feel at home and special.
The pictures do it justice, and our host , Elisa, helped us make arrangements for a wine and cheese tasting at the last minute. The rooms were clean and comfortable, within walking distance to the local restaurant, Trattoria Albana, which was also delicious. Couldn’t recommend highly enough the overall experience :)

Villa Otium is heaven where you will find hospitality, kindness and tranquillity. Immersed in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and only a few kilometres from the splendid Etruscan city of Volterra, which has been the cradle for history and culture for the last 3000 years. Villa Otium has been completely renovated and refurbished in typical Tuscan rustic style. The bedrooms and recreational areas introduce guests to a warm and inviting environment, away from the cold and formal structures that we are usually confronted with in modern lifestyles.
We stayed a night at this place. It’s a nice place close to the main street going up to Volterra. Rooms are cozy and clean. Decoration around the house is a bit messy and overdone. Was disappointed with the pool area. Chairs and tables where not maintained and around the bar the ground was full of cigarette buds... a bit more work there and it would be a lovely spot to stay a few days to relax.

Visited Il Vecchio Mulino twice during this holiday - We have been coming to this restaurant for over 8 years and are never disappointed - lovely staff, superb food, what was great this time was my daughter's friend was with us, who is a vegetarian and she couldn't get over the amount of choice she had - all excellent. Highly recommended

Agriturismo Podere Fraggina is a small familiar homestay at walking distance from the Etruscan town Volterra, situated in the characteristic hilly countryside of Tuscany, surrounded by cypresses. Our home offers 4 cosy apartments for 2 and/or 5 persons, situated on the ground floor of the farmhouse. All our apartments are equipped with kitchen corner for self-catering. Breakfast is available at extra cost. Massimo and Inger are happy to advise you on your day trips and are also available to make bike trips with you. Our strength is the familiar and informal atmosphere which lifts the tip of our daily Tuscan life. Be welcome!
We were here last two weeks and we truly loved it. Normally we always went to Spain but because of the Covid virus we weren't able to so we choosed to visit Tuscany Italy we were still able to and we never visited Tuscany before. We were with our parents (in law) and we rented two of the cosy apartments. So glad we did! Our hosts, Inger and Massimo are very kind and interested and always willing to help and to give information. Inger even baked our some pizzas and brought us homemade pie which, for sure, were very appreciated. Volterra is also a very nice, not to big city with a lovely atmosphere. After a few visits we still found out new alleys with nice views. We hope to come here one day in August/September so we can use the pool with the beautiful views. We also adored their cat, I wish we could take her home haha. Thanks Inger and Massimo!

We’ve spent here 5 nights in a studio apartman which was comfortable for three of us. Good price/value ratio. Everything is clean and well maintained, mainly the pool area. Location is excellent. Closed to Volterra and Lajatico, but you can also explore the wonderful Tuscany. I hope that one thay we can return.

We stayed at Casa al Bosco during the first week of August. My wife, daughter and I stayed with another family of 4 in the Frederico apartment. The apartment was great. It was on the second floor, with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, large living room and two bathrooms. One bathroom had a shower. The other had a tub. The bathroom with the shower also had a small washing machine. I do not remember a dryer. The Casa is on a hillside in the country. Getting there does require driving a few miles on a gravel road. However, it is well worth the drive. The views of the countryside and of Volterra are spectacular. There is a charcoal grill next to a covered patio that we used almost daily. We would usually grill dinner and eat on the patio. Wine, dinner and the view were almost magical. There is also a very nice pool that we enjoyed after our days adventure. The Casa is very well located. It was 90 minutes from the Florence airport. Pisa, Siena and the Mediterranean were all about 75 minutes away. The charming towns of Volterra and San Gimigiano were much closer. It served as a wonderful base from which to explore Tuscany. There was one downside. The temperatures were in the 90's in August and the apartment has no AC or fans. We would open up the windows at night and the apartment cooled off fairly well. However, it is a working farm and they raise chickens. The roosters started crowing around 4:30 or 5:00 am. So, be warned. You may not get to sleep in as late as you would like. Despite that, the setting was beautiful, the owners very nice, the apartment was clean, roomy and well maintained, and the location was perfect for us. We would recommend it, despite the fowl alarm clock.
