We are located in Volcano Village, 19-4030 Wright Rd., 96785 DELIVERY SERVICE IS AVAILABLE IN THE VOLCANO AREA. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND INTEREST. SEE YOU SOON! We are a mobile lunch wagon specializing in authentic Thai food.
We ate at another Thai restaurant the first night in town, then stopped at this place for lunch one day, as the options are limited in Volcano. I wish we had forgone the first place, and just went straight for this one. I would definitely get my food here and bring it back to our rental to eat a cozy meal, if you have a great rental. This food is legit, and quite good.
Keep in mind, food options in Volcano are limited, and even the "best" places weren't that good. The food here was outstanding head and shoulders above the rest.

We stopped in this bakery/cafe which is attached to Volcano Gallery which has a nice collection of woodwork. There are a variety of German pastries baked daily. The thing that will bring me back to this place again and again is the stuffed meatballs. I had the Italian meatballs which were stuffed with pepperoni, cheese and spinach. They also sell, German, Polish, Mexican and Moroccan meatballs. The fresh made coffee was really good.

There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were helpful. Soup was very good but the pizzas left a little to be desired. Eating options are limited in Volcano, especially after about 7pm ...Aloha Paul, You have reviewed the incorrect restaurant in Volcano Village. We are Cafe Ono and are only open for lunch and do not serve pizza. Next time do stop by Cafe Ono. We have great reviews on TripAdvisor. Mahalo,

Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.
Ate at lodge in March 2018. First red flag occurred when steak was served with a 1 inch dead mosquito-like bug on my daughters plate. When notified, the server apologized and quickly remedied the situation. I ordered my aha tuna well-done; it arrived pink. We notified the server and it was sent back for more grill time. While waiting for the return of tuna, I sampled the wild rice pilaf. It was so undercooked that it was almost crunchy; I was so disappointed by this point that I didn't even bring it to the servers attention. Service was good, dining experience was terrible... won't be back.

We arrived at the time of our booking and there were people swarming around on the tiny verandah outside - was there a line? Were people waiting for tables? We saw a desk and went past the milling folk. Eventually someone came and we said we had a booking. Wait 5 minutes, he said. Some other people turned up, looking as bemused as us, and asked for a table. Nothing free he said. So the other people gathered on the little verandah were waiting for their tables. More people turned up, walked in, and were ushered out. The bar was inside; nowhere to wait inside.
Eventually we were taken to our table (against a bench, which was quite low, the chairs were a better height).
Our server arrived with the menus, took an order for cocktails (which were OK, nothing special) and discussed the menu. The duck starter - will it serve two? He told us that the table next to us had just shared the duck between 4 as a starter and there were 5 slices so it would probably be OK for two. Slightly confused by his response, we said OK, we'd do that. Then for the main, I ordered the baby back ribs, my husband ordered the hen but asked if he could have potato instead of rice? No problem.
So to the drinks. We discussed the wines with the server - by the glass, they had two whites and two reds. We talked with the server about them and then I said, OK, I'll have the house red. My husband asked for one of the whites. OK, said the server, 2 reds coming up. NO, one red, one white. Oh, OK and off he went. Next time he passed by, we asked for some water - every other table got it as they sat down.
We'd heard great things about this place, and it was not shaping up well.
Wine arrived. It was OK.
Then our server arrived and put down the duck in front of my husband, the hen in front of me. WHAT? We reminded him we'd ordered the duck as a starter for two, then the hen and the ribs. The cook must have got confused, he said, I'll get you two small plates and get them to keep the hen hot while they cook the ribs. NO, we do NOT want it keeping hot, you'll need to do it fresh.
He went away and we could see him talking to the cook. He then went and did a couple of other things then came back with small plates for our rapidly cooling duck (7 slices, so his "5 for 4" was nonsense). "The ribs will be up shortly and they are keeping the hen warm". NO. We both said again that keeping it warm was unacceptable, if they did that we would not pay for the meal. Yes, I meant they're doing a fresh one, he replied, the cook got confused. Maybe you should write down the orders? Yes, Ma'am, he replied and walked off. Hmm.
After we finished the duck - good flavour, a bit stringy, excellent salad - he came back with the ribs, and put them down in front of my husband, then he returned with the hen. If it had been kept warm, it had been served undercooked before because my husband declared it perfect. The ribs too were excellent - loads of meat, the mash was really good, as were the vegetables (though husband said the selection of vegetables on his plate was a bit weird but good). After the shambolic serving we were relieved that the food was spot on.
They gave us one glass of wine on the house as an apology for the chef's mistake, said the server; we have our doubts that it was the chef who got it wrong.
If the star system could be broken down, I'd have given 5 for the food and 2 for the service.

This is a small basic cafe - order and pay inside, then wait and eat at roadside picnic tables outside. They did’nt have their special (lasagna), so I settled for a bowl of chilli and a piece of coconut cake. Inexpensive basic stuff, but something did’nt agree with me - had stomach ache that afternoon.

Authentic Thai cuisine with the addition of some international bistro options. We will be closed April 23-27, 2018 for maintenance and deep cleaning. We will be reopened for normal hours on April 28, 2018
What a wonderful place to taste a real Thai food. Don’t miss this conveniently located restaurant very close to the Volcano Park. Ideal to have lunch after the visit to the park. We try several dishes and find them really delicious. The Tom Yum soup was great and spicy. You can choose your spice level from 1 to 10, so everyone can taste them. The curry was excellent, green or yellow are good choices. You can even have a real Thai beer.

Food was good and the location can't be beat. Nice to eat in the park and take a break but still see the crater.

Excellent place for breakfast when you are visiting Volcano National Park. It is in the village of Volcano just a few blocks off the main highway. The decor is a bit basic but the food and service are top notch.
We each had the French toast breakfast with bacon. It was very good and a lot to eat. It includes two eggs. Interestingly, it is more expensive to NOT have the eggs as that makes it French toast with a side of bacon. Go figure. I can't complain, I ended up with part of my wife's eggs ;)

Access is no longer limited to those staying at the KMC quarters. We ate here several times as we spent 4 nights at KMC. On most evenings there were groups of school children (about thirty 4th graders), at least one commercial tour group (about 12-15 mostly Asian tourists) and several people staying at KMC so it was crowded. The food is nothing special but the price is very reasonable, especially for Hawaii. We ate here (breakfast and dinner) primarily because it was convenient - we could walk here from our cottage on KMC.
