Reviews on Russian food in Suzdal, Vladimir Oblast, Russia. Historic Suzdal is one of Russia’s oldest settlements, dating back to early the 11th century. It’s a serene and charming place, offering a latticework of unpaved paths that wind by churches with candy-colored domes, rustic wooden structures and cinematic meadows. Sip some local medovukha honey cider for a true taste of the region.

Atmosphere is nice, that's about it. First, our waitress was freakin as rude as they come in Russia. She waited like we were a thorn in her side. There was one gent who was really nice. We got our food at different time and one in our party had to wait fifteen minutes after the others had finished to get his food. This seemed to really irritate our waitress, as she became even meaner. The food was greasy, salty, and oily. Finally, I had to pay with a 5000 ruble note and she said it was fake. Everyone else around was saying it was good. She slapped it down and shrugged her shoulders and asked, "what?" And she gave me the Russian-lady stare down. Finally, the nice gent said to her to accept it. Left feeling really angry. The other places we ate at in Suzdal were all quite friendly. Great way to make people not want to eat here.

Family restaurant with seasonal dishes and drinks from local produce. Slowly, delicious, cozy. Wonderful breakfast 9:00-12:00. Hearty lunch 12:00-17:00: salads, soups and baguettes stuffed with homemade. Desserts and ice cream. Khrenovukha by Baker. Dinne
We ate here twice and every dish was excellent. A fresh twist is given to classics like milk mushrooms and all dishes like the pork neck and the stuffed quail are prepared on the premises with quality ingredients and great attention to detail. The bakery goods were as you would expect all very good and the desserts are not to be missed. Add in that you can sit on the terrace with views of delightful historic churches and this has everything going for it.

A small cozy restaurant the Restaurant On Vasilievsky located in one of the most beautiful places of Suzdal, close to the walls of the white stone men's Vasilyevsky monastery. In the Tavern two rooms: the main dining can accommodate 70 persons and Banquet
Our group tour stopped by this quiet restaurant for lunch whilst in Suzdal. The place has quite a beautiful interior décor, and if you proceed towards the back, you can see a nice view of what I think is the Kamenka River and some churches in the far distance. We started off with a simple salad, before having a bowl of chicken noodle soup (served with bread on the side). Our entrée was pork chops, accompanied with fries and cucumbers. I really liked that the pork chop was very tender and the meat not dry at all. The fries in Russia are done differently, and are not the deep-fried kind you would associate with McDonalds; I think theirs is more of pan-fried? Suzdal dishes usually also feature cucumbers in one way or another, this region is famous for growing cucumbers and every July the locals will come together to celebrate Cucumber Festival. Dessert was a serving of vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. A hearty meal I would say!

We expected the food to match the setting - WRONG. Worst borsch we had in Russia - pork stew with bread topping had to be sent back because the center was cold. Not much taste and high prices. Cannot recommend

Russian cuisine
Externally it is a typical restaurant for tourists. But it seemed to me that in the first place is "the restaurant for private guests"- "respected people of the city." Tourists often think that the restaurant "Beehive" is all the restaurants in the courtyard of the estate. But it's not. "Beehive"is only the first of them. Next - another restaurant and other kitchen. In the restaurant "Beehive" all the seats were booked but nobody was there. All the random guests were asked to sit on the outdoor patio. The restaurant itself is like. Very delicious and authentic Russian cuisine. Very fast and polite waiters. We are from Moscow, and for us the prices are normal. They are lower than in good restaurants from Moscow. Recommend, but suggest to make a reservation.

Gostinyj Dvor is a restaurant located near the Kremlin, in the main square of Suzdal, the most known city located in the Golden Ring, an historical place surrounded Moscow. We came here and wanted to taste some traditional dishes like Borsch soup, pelmenis or varenyky, which were great. Also, we tasted a Beluga vodka and red Russian wine, which was good. As dessert, we ate Russian homemade pastry. A very recommenadable place to know the Russian gastronomy. Also the staff was very friendly with us.

While planning our day trip in the Golden Ring, my boyfriend and I were told we would have lunch in Suzdal. Chainaya came well recommended, and so we stopped to have lunch there with our tour guide. Our guide was able to help us navigate the menu (which was written in excellent English) and also recommend dishes that were specialties of the area (of which our guide was from). I decided to have the stuffed cabbage with ground meat, baked in a tomato sauce served in an earthenware vessel. My boyfriend had the pan fried pike fish cakes and a side of kasha. Both dishes were very delicious. He had a pot of tea to warm himself up, while I opted to try some of the horseradish vodka and a glass of mead. Both were delicious, but definitely take the vodka in sips, as the horseradish adds an extra kick. Both the service and the ambiance were very warm and inviting. An extra bonus is the close proximity to the Suzdal kremlin. A delicious meal in a lovely place.благодаÑим Ð²Ð°Ñ Ð·Ð° оÑÐµÐ½ÐºÑ Ð½Ð°Ñей ÑабоÑÑ, ждем Ð²Ð°Ñ Ñнова в гоÑÑи.

We were probably the first Sri Lankans to ever visit this quaint restaurant and even though communication was impossible, the ladies who were serving us and the chef were just amazingly hospitable. Thanks to Google Translator, we managed to get some gastronomic delights, great vodka and were finally presented with complimentary vodka shots with salted cucumbers before we walked across to our hotel. Ultimately, it is service that one remembers and the team here made it memorable. Their beautiful smiles were the icing on the cake.
