What's not to love; Delicious food relaxed atmosphere, exceptional service by Taniela and Akeai our Teppan chef. Enjoyed tuna sashimi and teppanyaki fish, lamb and shrimps incredibly flavoursome dishes. Warm sake served delicately balanced aftertaste. Reservation a must, expensive but a worthwhile experience. Definitely will return.

TAKA Japanese Cuisine, a newly-opened Japanese restaurant at Port Denarau Fiji. Bento special : beef tataki, salmon sashimi, and kushi age - deep fried goodies on skewers. TAKA Japanese Cuisine, Above Westpac Bank, Port Denarau | Open 12 noon to 9 PM |
The restaurant is hidden upstairs in the marina port mall, marked only by a red lantern outside. Once inside, the dining room is like nicely decked out in Japanese style complete with a Japanese chef and apparent owner. I initially ordered the tuna sashimi, but this was unavailable. The salmon sushi roll, chicken karaage and soba noodle soup was excellent and a nice respite from all of the fried food we've been eating. Well worth a visit for decent japanese food in quiet cool surroundings

Dropped into the Tanoa International Hotel to go to this little restaurant. It appears to be independent of the restaurant as you cannot book cost to your room. There was a lack of professionalism of the staff, however the food was OK. I ordered tempura prawn, also a plate of tempura vegetables, and a miso soup. The tempura was soggy and the vegetables chosen were a little odd (e.g. celery, cucumber). Could have been better.

We popped in for a light lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the selection of sushi and sashimi on offer. The owner prepared extra dishes as we waited and chatted and everything tasted good. The sushi train was kept fully charged and there were additions that could be ordered from a menu. Entrance up the stairs from the main street. Prices were very reasonable and the quality was high
