Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

We stayed in the “Shoals” villa beautifully appointed, well equipped, perfectly clean in every regard. We stayed here before and are never disappointed. The grounds are well manicured and along the Bay with great views. Our favorite place to stay when in the area.

Sevenoaks is a serene and beautiful sanctuary for retreats where mindfulness and healing can occur. We offer comfortable spaces to lodge overnight and meet with your group, delicious cuisine, 120-acres of beautiful land with over 5-miles of walking trails, and much more for you and your group. Enjoy our incredible meals prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients which include, when available, organically grown produce from our own gardens, which are tended mindfully by our staff and, in part, by our work/study students and guests. We also serve organic, non-GMO products such as local, organic tofu and tempeh; local, organic, soy-free eggs, and organic corn products. Our guests rave about our cuisine and organic gardens. Come find us nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether it be in a individual or group setting we are open for people who long for a deeper connection to self, others, nature, spirit, and the world. Sevenoaks is a truly restful place to spend time working or playing or just doing nothing at all. We are a proud to be Virginia Green certified facility.

The Manor House - with three bedrooms, several sitting rooms, full kitchen and large wrap around porches. Originally built in the mid 1800's, the newly renovated Manor House steps back in time to a world of peace and beauty surrounded by the General's Ridge Vineyard and Winery. Live special moments in this three bedroom Manor House while you have a wine glass as the sun rises over rolling hills.
I simply can not say enough good things about General's Ridge. We had the pleasure/privilege of meeting the owners, Rick and Linda. They're wonderful people and genial hosts. The staff is wonderful including Martha who went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. It's a working 33 acre vineyard, but the wine is actually made offsite. There's a great tasting room (Both inside and outside seating) where you can get light appetizers. Rick and Linda host local artists, a new one every 4 - 6 weeks. For openings for new artists, they host a tasting event. You can buy the art. Did I mentioned the wines are excellent!?! There are two lodgings on site: the Manor house and Vineyard views. Manor house is an original structure that's been updated and is cozy. We stayed in Vineyard Views which is new (Comparatively) and comfortable and tastefully decorated. Rick and Linda can host events (Family get togethers, weddings, etc.). If you're planning something special, I'd urge you to give them a call. We'll definitely be going back. A word of advice, rely on your GPS (Not your cell) as cell reception is a little spotty. Once you're there, it's worth it!

I stayed at the Carlyle Suites for 2 1/2 weeks and was treated like family. Originally I booked only 7 days because it was pricey etc etc., but when I talked to manage and told her I needed a longer term, she dropped my rate and then I ended up staying obviously longer. The staff was always eager to help with whatever. The bar was fun downstairs and the breakfast is yummy (maybe a little over priced but its "bottomless") but I have no complaints, even the parking situation was good. The internet is free and the parking is free. It is in the heart of Dupont Circle and near many of the colleges including Johns Hopkins University.

The 2-bedroom condo was spacious and located in a lovely, quiet area. The unit could have been cleaner when we arrived, but generally was OK, and well stocked with items like paper towels, dish soaps, toilet paper, extra garbage bags, etc., but it seems kind of silly that they no longer provide salt and pepper because of COVID! Appliances were all in good shape, and the two bedrooms were very nice, but the twin beds in the loft area were VERY uncomfortable and not suited for adults. The bedding was skimpy, and if you wanted a comforter/bedspread you had to request it. The sauna in the unit was a bonus! Having two restaurants within a 5-minute drive, plus the nearby rec centre with an indoor pool, outdoor patio, and other activities was very handy. Outdoor pools were not open when we were there (they don't open until the Memorial Day weekend) which was a disappointment on the warm days.

This was a beautiful B&B with a great host. The room was lovely, with a comfortable king bed, and a "dressing room' with a mirrored vanity. It would be a nice place to get ready for a wedding! The host gave us some great suggestions for things to do and was really pleasant to talk to. I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful, clean apartment. So much more comfortable than a hotel, yet all the services I need (nice towels, soap and shampoo, comfortable bed). Very spacious. New building and very well maintained. No brainer if you need to be in DC. I will look for them in different cities.
