Over the past few years I've seen the service and value decline dramatically in this chain. I've visited the Stafford location at least 15 times and generally impressed with their level of service, they usually open the door for you and greet guests with a smile.

I ordered the Fred'burger med. well which according to their menu means light pink. It was well done and very dry and the bun was not fresh. I was here 2 years ago and ordered a burger and the same thing happened. I said back then that I wouldn't go back but did, thinking everyone needs a second chance. BUT I definitely will not go back again.

It was previously a pub with nice meals and sandwiches and all kinds of beer selections along with a bar. The name changed, but the really cool main eating area stayed the same.The beers and bar are still there, but the the meals are super good. I told the waiter that these were two of the best sandwiches we ever had and the appetizer was just awesome. Appetizer was a combo of battered onion rings and mushrooms. The coatings were fab! My wife's meal was a huge corned beef and sauerkraut combo (half of which she had to take home). I had a French Dip which was my best ever and their dipping sauce was marvelous. We will return soon to sample their new menu - our items were items from the old menu that were previous favorites. You have to give this place a shot. It's is right outside of Macy's in the Spotsylvania Town Center (Mall). This was like eating GOURMET, but with regular prices!

Totally surprised by the quality of service and food. We were staying the night at a nearby hotel and wanted some place to eat within walking distance. The exterior doesnât make it look good, but looks can deceive! The waitress was friendly and the food was outstanding!!! We will go back to The Tavern on our next trip to Fredericksburg.

We love the food from New Orleans and this restaurant brings that flavor and fare close to home.We had the alligator bites appetizer, fried oyster appetizer, and shrimp & grits with alligator sausage.Everything was steaming hot when it arrived. That is perfect, because hot food is best eaten when hot, rather than warm. The appearance was excellent, and the flavors bold and robust as if we were in a cafe in New Orleans.The grits were so amazing with tons of tasty cheese, and perfectly cooked shrimp.The decor was nice and the seating comfortable.Highly recommended!!! Thank you so much for your review. We can't wait to dine with you again soon.

My family and I had dinner here during our road trip. The restaurant was recommended or advertised on Waze. We weren't disappointed. It's a local restaurant, not a national chain. The restaurant has a sports atmosphere with lots of TVs. They also have video games. We had burgers, crab sliders and pasta. Everything was good, including the service. I would definitely visit again if we are in town.

The tavern has a great atmosphere and an extensive list of beer. They serve American comfort food as, well as, traditional European dishes. My husband had the Jagerschnitzel and I ordered the Quattro Formaggio pizza. Both entrees were large portions and very good. Good service and reasonable prices.
