Late night dinner & looking for something fairly light landed us at Abuelo's which turned out to be an excellent choice. We were staying nearby & scheduled for an early morning flight at Roanoke Airport. Went with their Tortilla soup & decided to share an order of nachos...smart move because the nacho platter was huge. Good atmosphere, attentive server & very fair prices added up to a great experience.

Love going to the drive-thru because the servers are ALWAYS upbeat and friendly. We love the chicken chalupa supremes. The price is good also and the time spent in line is minimal!

Loved the atmosphere absolutely beautiful. Very good service. Average food. The drinks were 4 ounces and $8-10 each! That is ridiculous. I can go to El rodeo and get a jumbo margarita for nine dollars and this tiny little thing was down in four sips.Hey there, thanks for giving us a try. It's nice to hear you enjoyed our atmosphere so much and had great service. However, we are sorry you were unimpressed with our drinks. We hear your feedback. Reasonably-priced Mexican food that has a bit of a lighter taste than many dollar restaurants in the area. Chips served with three salsas. Casual atmosphere with nifty touches like tin ceiling. Service friendly but somewhat slow.

Wonderful option for yummy Mexican food. Salsa bar is always a hit; filling and reasonably-priced kids' meals; many options for nachos. Can accommodate large parties. Do not be alarmed by tinted windows. Unfortunately, service can be a bit spotty/chilly/slow, hence three stars on this visit.

The new location [2032 West Main] and building are great. The interior is brightly decorated and very welcoming. Staff are friendly and definitely family friendly. El rodeo has both indoor and outdoor seating. We were there on a Friday evening and the place was packed. They do take reservations, so you might want to call ahead if you plan to dine at a peak time. The âtablesideâ guacamole was a great value, given the rising price of avocados lately. We enjoyed all of our entrees and can recommend the cazuelon, the quesadilla fajita shrimp, and the taco trio - grilled chicken, carne asada, & shrimp [see pictures] . We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!
