Sushi Chef and owner, Shoji Mochizuki, opened Sushi Zen Japanese Restaurant in 1997. It is conveniently located in the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center, in the heart of North Arlington, Virginia. Featured in the Washingtonian Cheap Eats Magazine, The Washingt
Sushi Zen has long been my favorite to go to when I have a craving for Japanese food. I have already written reviews of it as an outstanding Japanese Restaurant in Arlington and so far that rating from me stands. However I was greatly surprised by my luncheon today. My son and I both ordered Bento Boxes. This time no salad was served. The miso soup that comes with the meal was good. When our Bento boxes arrived I found the smallest sushi I had ever seen here or in Japan. I was greatly disappointed. I usually order some sushi from the sushi menu to augment my bento box meal and to take home what I do not eat at the restaurant. This time I didn't.I will be going to another very highly rated Japanese restaurant in this area early next week and will be able to compare the sushi for quality and size. I am hoping that the sushi today is not a management decision to cut down, but a one time thing with the sushi chef making the sushi much too small today only. I will certainly go to Sushi Zen again and will find out.

The highlight of our lunch was the Tom Yum Soup, which was delicious! We also both enjoyed the Pork and Crab Shoumai. The Ginger Beef Rice Bowl and the Chicken Pad Thai were both also good, but not as memorable as the soup! The portions are very big. As for the service, it was solidly so-so, and perhaps the only thing that we found slightly lacking, though no major issues. Suggestion: The restaurant should provide utensils to rest oneâs chopsticks on when not in use, as the bowls do not allow for this.

Since 1999, KAZ Sushi Bistro has been loved by locals as well as people from all over the world. Menu is very unique, from authentic Japanese regional food to one of the kind unique original dishes are served in casual and friendly ambience.
I visited Kaz a week ago during a business trip to DC. I ordered a sashimi-sushi sampler, which at $45, was on the upper end of the prices in the menu. What a disappointment. Pretty average salmon/tuna/whitefish selection, nothing special. The nigiri pieces were small with thin slices of fish, not better than any neighborhood sushi delivery. This used to be an excellent place, not sure if it's gone south in quality or if I just chose the wrong dish. It certainly felt like highway robbery to me.

Went on a work event. Not enough seats for our entire party. Service spotty. The food was heavy and greasy

I have liked Bangkok 54 and have used it for quite awhile now. The food is always good, as is the service. The one difficulty I have found there was when eating with my son who has an allergy to peanuts. One of the dishes he ordered is cooked in peanut oil, though there was no indication of this on the menu. When we informed them, the manager said, well let us know if you get sick and give us the bill from your doctor. Fortunately for us this did not happen, but please be careful in ordering, if you have food allergies.I find the decor very attractive so it is a pleasant atmosphere to eat in.

Pho places are for eating this good Vietnamese soup and not for lingering, atmosphere, fine service, or lengthy conversations. Of the Pho places, I have found Pho 75 to be very good consistently. You may have to wait in line, but the line goes quickly. It is another indication of how good the food is. The turn over tends to be quite fast, since this isn't a place for lingering. You may very well end up at a long table with other people you don't know, since the fewer smaller tables fill up fast. Now to the reason to come to Pho 75, the food. I always get one of the top two pho on the menu, which contains a variety of things, some of which may not please most American palates if the consumers are not unless used to Asian or some other ethnic foods). But you can order pho on the menu that has only lean meats. They always have the basil and bean sprouts to add to the soup, which is usually a rich broth. There is excellent Vietnamese coffee, and some additions for deserts and drinks.
