Under new management...We visited THE FARMHOUSE on Tuesday, August 27th for dinner. My boyfriend made a reservation for dinner at 7:30. When we arrived we were given seating options and decided on a quieter location in a booth. We were celebrating my birthday. Our Waiter was William. He welcomed us with a smile, menus and wine list. He immediately returned with water and took our drink orders. He gave us a run down of specials...he knew how they were prepared and was able to answer all our questions. He returned quickly with our drinks and took our order. He made all the specials sound so good we had to try them. Everything was timed perfectly from our appetizer, soup/salad...and entree. He knew what he was doing...gave us time in between each course so that we could relax and enjoy each one. THE FOOD...awesome...5 star SO SO glad that we have a chef here now that makes you want to talk about it to everyone. Everything prepared perfectly and perfect temperature. Presentation was beautiful. Truthfully the whole dinner including the sweet dessert I was given at the end of our meal for my birthday made my whole experience a birthday to remember. Thank you William for taking care of us so well...and Chef...THANK YOU for the best steak Diane I have ever had...and my boyfriend...the best rainbow trout...ever!

Texas Roadhouse is a steak restaurant providing legendary food with legendary service. Texas Roadhouse specializes in hand-cut steaks, fresh-baked bread, fall-off-the-bone-ribs, and made-from-scratch sides. We also serve ice cold beer and legendary margar
Steak chain restaurants such as Outback, Lone Star, and other Teas Roadhouse locations are usually consistent in delivering above average tasting food and good service. This location was different. Visited during a not very busy Sunday afternoon and party of 5 was seated immediately. Our drink orders were returned incorrectly and side orders were wrong on 3 out of the 5 plates. When the "delivery" person was notified he said he would tell our waiter who did not appear until five minutes later. Food quality was hit and miss. The chicken dishes were fine but the steaks were either overcooked or too fatty with raw portions in the 16 oz Ribeye. Although the side orders were corrected the waiter never asked about our food. Having never been asked if we wanted desert, we had to ask another waiter to get our check. We will not be going back to this location.

My wife and I visit Outback for lunch approximately twice a month. We always order the endless salad and soup. Hard to beat this for $7.99. We both love their clam chowder. Wife occasionally orders french onion soup but I stay with clam chowder. Never had a bad meal or bad service.

My wife and I visited Crab Creek from Smith Mountain Lake. We are originally from New England and will drive miles for a good seafood restaurant (that won't send us to the poor farm). It appears that either people in SW Virginia don't know what good seafood is, or they are willing to put up with whatever is offered just to get it.Crab Creek has a long way to go to meet the grade. Perhaps they could do with a little advice. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived and were immediately seated. I had the feeling though that we were interrupting whatever the server had been doing and she was irritated about it. It was only toward the end of the meal when I was trying to get her to at least smile that she warmed up a bit.As for the food, mmmm, not that good. My wife and I both had a fried scallop and oyster combination plate. The scallops were tiny bay scallops, they are fine if properly cooked, but overdone they are like eating flavorless pencil erasers. The oysters were just few and also overdone. There were a few other couples arriving as we left, and we were there for an early dinner, but the dinner crowd was very, very small. I was just shy of giving Crab Creek a poor rating, but they made a Jambalaya that was quite good and that somewhat redeemed them.
