Since I cannot handle any kind of spicy food, I am often hesitant to go to ethnic restaurants where I don't know what to expect. I wasn't sure what "Mediterranean" food meant, but decided to take a chance on Saffron. I am very glad that I did! The food was flavorful, but not spicy, so I was able to enjoy everything I ordered. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic and the gentleman who attended us was eager to answer any questions we had. We were given some flatbread and two sauces (one spicy, one not) as a starter. The bread was good. Then my chicken kabobs came with at least three different kinds of rice--all delicious--that I couldn't finish because the portion was so generous. The chicken itself was moist. My husband enjoyed his lamb special (which also came with a generous amount of carrot raisin rice). He said it was prepared simply but well.We both want to go back to try some of their other offerings.

Stopped this evening to pick up a pizza on our way home from running errands. Placed our order at the counter. Staff was way more interested in talking to each other than helping any customers. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Should have been a sign! Waited about 20 minutes...noticed that pizza maker put a pie on top of the oven after about 10 minutes. Guess what? It was our pie and we sat there another 10 minutes before he came over and said "oh yeah, here's your pizza." Pizza is OK. Service is AWFUL! I've tried this place time and again and will finally have to say "no" to any more tries. Will take my $$$ somewhere else that appreciates their customers. Don't do it!

Ventured out on Saturday evening. Was very excited to see a Greek restaurant close to our new home . Ambiance was typical and busy for Saturday night. Waitress was pleasant and tried to be attentive . Table clean and inviting Ordered the calamari for an appetizer . Much too crunchy with more breading than was necessary . Couldn't taste the calamari. The sauce that arrived as an accompaniment, however was delicious but not very warm .My Greek salad was tasty , my husbands chicken soup was also tasty but barely warm . Entrees arrived but food was tepid at best . My Greek combination plate was tasty . Especially loved the grape leaves and spinacopia . Moussaka could have been heated more as well as the pastichio. Mid way through my meal the food was cold . My husbands lamb shank was very tough and disappointing much like baked chicken left in the refrigerator uncovered for a week . Not at all "fall off the bone" tender. It was so much work that he left most on his plate . Orzo would have benefited with a little hot tasty lamb . Perhaps this was just a bad night in the kitchen ? A party of 5 with a reservation had to wait for their table. Our waitress had more patrons than she could handle but she tried to please. If food was hot I likely would have overlooked the too crunchy calamari and the undercooked lamb . After discussing our dissatisfaction with the lamb , our waitress offered to discount the price of that dish . A nice gesture, but tender lamb and hot food would have been more appreciated. Likely will give this cozy restaurant another try when our disappointment has faded.

We came here when it was named something else and it was completely empty on a Friday night , so we never came in. Fast forward to a Saturday in May and we opted to go get a gyro. After looking at the menu, you can only order the $8.99 gyro and fries on Mon.-Wed. From 11-3. We were going to leave because that is what we came for. Not rice and lamb. The wonderful waitress said ,"Wait" "your the second table to leave because of this. We waited and she got the go ahead. We had the most tasty lamb gyro with fries. It was huge with a large amount of fries. I hope they add the gyro and fries for the weekend. They lost one star for the fries being under done and not having enough tzatiki sauce. The waitress was great and the food was awesome. Some music in the background would be nice .
