Iâm confused by all the 5-star reviews of Oishii. The sushi is run of the mill and nothing special. The fish in the majority of the rolls is cooked, which is fine, but is clearly an indication of the customer base they are aiming to attract (i.e. the âewwww, Iâm not eating raw fishâ crowd). I had the Crunch and Godzilla Rolls. They were both a bit bland (perhaps the rice wasnât seasoned properly?) and Iâd try something different in the future. My husbandâs hibachi salmon was also OK, although the salmon was overcooked. On the plus side, the service was excellent and you could tell the staff cared about the customers and the restaurant.

This is a bare bones store in rural VA, the last place one would expect to get authentic Japanese. They have all the standard dishes you would expect in a more urban setting. We have eaten there several times and found the dishes surpassed anything we have ordered at any other Japanese stores. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. A must when living in the area or when just visiting.

I have passed this restaurant many times without a thought but finally tried it. Priced right with generous portions but that is only half the story. The food is some of the best Japanese I have had locally and beyond. Bubble tea is never good at most Japanese restaurants however this place is the exception or should I say exceptional. Give this place a try and be surprised. Small, quaint, and friendly with some outside seating.
