First visit to this place. There are 2 other Italian restaurants very close to here. One of them is outstanding, and is our favorite dining establishment within 40m of our home. The other is abysmal. Sal's as it turns out it quite decent. Loved the addition of salami and provolone to the Italian salad. Garlic knots were great. The eggplant parmesan was fresh and tasty. Service is outstanding.

Generations have grown up eating Dino's pizza. They still make the dough in front of you, and each pizza is made to order. The subs are especially great, and I really recommend the toasted Italian (with Italian dressing on it) and the meatball sub. The salads are huge and totally share-able.

This is a local chain in Newport News
Stopped this evening to pick up a pizza on our way home from running errands. Placed our order at the counter. Staff was way more interested in talking to each other than helping any customers. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Should have been a sign! Waited about 20 minutes...noticed that pizza maker put a pie on top of the oven after about 10 minutes. Guess what? It was our pie and we sat there another 10 minutes before he came over and said "oh yeah, here's your pizza." Pizza is OK. Service is AWFUL! I've tried this place time and again and will finally have to say "no" to any more tries. Will take my $$$ somewhere else that appreciates their customers. Don't do it!

Donatos is a family-owned pizza company famous for Edge to Edge® toppings on a crispy golden thin crust. Founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1963, we take pride in giving back in every community we serve.
We ordered 2 pizzas for delivery along with the Cheese garlic bread. It arrived quickly and was hot. We had a cheese, sausage, pep. mushroom & onion on one & the chicken, spinach tomato pizza. The crust was nice and thin and both tasted great. We live in WI and we have several great pizza places in our town and it is hard to find good pizza. This wasn't like we have at home but it was very good.

The last time we visited about three weeks prior, we had an excellent experience with properly cooked food and attentive sevice all while the restaurant was extremely busy. Because of the awesome dinner we had, we brought a couple from Newport News over to share in the experience. Unfortunately, tonight we we very disappointed. We had the pork chop, two orders of prime rib, and the Mongo burger. Food came out cold. Prime rib, vegetables, and the fries were all cold. Good flavor, but not the quality we expected and wanted to share with visitors. Even the rolls were brought out after the dinner arrived and even those were cold. We mentioned it to the waitress and the manager came out to see what the issue was. Repeated the issue of the cold food and he offered to bring more fries and thanked us for letting him know and he would go back to the kitchen and make a "teaching moment" out of it. Stated that there were quite a few large parties in the restaurant, but unless a large party is a table of 4 or more, I am not seeing but 1 table of 6. Not happy with this experience and definitely not what we expected. Going to be a long time before we attempt this again, if ever. Not even a discount offered. What a shame.

Ordered carryout pizza (half cheese/half pepperoni). Nothing remarkable about it at all. Wife thought sauce was plain tomato sauce, no detectable seasoning in sauce or on crust. I'm not a pizza snob, but I'd prefer (my favorite chain) Marco's Pizza to this 10 out of 10 times.

We also offer Gluten Free dishes, such as 10' pizza, 14' pizza, and Ravioli.
My wife ordered manicotti and there wasnât much taste to it. Previously here I ordered chicken parmigiana and it was pretty good. This time I was red hot, as if they left it under a heat lamp. I couldnât even eat it. What I could eat was bland too. We will try other places.Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you didnât have a good time at our restaurant this time. We didnât change anything about our recipes and I assure you that we donât have a heat lamp as everything is cooked to order . The reason your food came out hot is because it was fresh straight from the oven .We are not sure why everything seemed bland to you that day , even the dishes that you enjoyed before . We hope to see you again and I improve your opinion about us . Thank you for your business .

My husband and I visited for a late lunch following a day of sight seeing. We were immediately seated and provided drinks. Garlic bread soon appeared and not long after ordering, our food arrived, fresh & hot. The chicken Marsala was delicious and the dish was plentiful with mushrooms. Fettuccine Alfredo was also very good. The meal was both delicious and reasonably priced.

I visited with 5 family members. We ordered calzones, veal parms, chicken parm and a small pizza. The entrees started with fresh salad and garlic knots ... all good. The veal was pounded thin and cooked to perfection. Just excellent! The pasta sides were also very good. Everyone was very pleased with the meals. I will be visiting again! P.S. - Don't let the dated exterior deter you from the restaraunt. The interior is clean and well decorated.
