Fun, casual but elegant atmosphere full of color, antiques, and conversation pieces. Great place for a lunch with friends with some level of "fancy" touches like flowers. Delicious chicken salad and great prices. Friendly staff. Expect to linger a bit (wait a bit) on food and some items may be sold out for the day. Small in size. Parking in the back.

Just got done with lunch on 9/4. My wife and I have eaten here many times, and it has always been Top Notch. We had the Bacon Burgers and fries and it was hot and tasty. We got a great deal @ $5/ea. The service from "Megan" was very good and she had a nice BIG smile on her face the whole time. Jill, the mgr. also came by to check on us. She is one of the best mgrs. of any restaurant. And to top if off I also talked to "Dave" the dist. mgr., I also told him of how great this restaurant is and that we have eaten here many times and loved it. He is very nice man, and thanks us for coming in.So to wrap this all up....We will be again...soon! Thanks,Woody & Sandy-Bedford, VA

My favorite breakfast spot! Friendly service too. Have not had lunch there yet but look forward to it soon! The first time we went, I asked for scrambled eggs, cooked medium, and was sure I would get those dried out eggs I alway get, but, NO, they were cooked just like I ordered them! The bacon is tasty and crisp--does taste like it has been sitting around forever. Grits are REAL, long cooked like they should be (earlier the better for these.) I liked the home fries too. Tasted cooked to order as well. Just moved to Bedford, have tried several breakfast places, but this is my favorite.

Our family stopped for breakfast on our way out of town. What an amazing little place! We enjoyed our breakfast, and visiting with the staff and local residents. The food was out of this world. Very cheap prices! Could have stayed here all day!

As old as the hills . . . The Peaks of Otter have drawn settlers and travelers to the region for more than 8,000 years. The community whose vestiges remain to be explored today had its beginning in 1766 when Thomas Wood arrived from Pennsylvania. The wife
Stopped for a late lunch on our dayâs drive on the parkway. A beautiful setting looking out at the lake and the mountain. The soup/salad entree was satisfying and reasonable. My lunch partner enjoyed the hamburger but it was slow to arrive...said she would have ordered something different if she knew it would take the 15-20 minutes it took.Ruth, thank you very much for your positive feedback about your visit to Peaks of Otter Lodge. We appreciate your comments and will make sure we work hard to improve our service so that your future visits are even more memorable and delightful.

We make beer in Bedford, Virginia. A sleepy town with secret treasures. You just discovered one of them.
Another couple an we stopped here for a beer. We did the flight so we could try all of the beers. The Gold, the stout, and the IPA were our favorites. The brisket was wonderful. Also ordered the pretzel with an upgrade of beer cheese. Only suggestion is to make the pretzel and beer cheese an item together.

Come....Be social
We have been coming here for nearly 5 years now when we visit friends in Bedford. I had the Thai Ahi, cooked rare. Came lightly cooked with Asian veggies on rice. OMG Chef Michael still serves the best meals I have eaten at restaurants. My friend Dave ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue and he too stated it was the best he has ever tasted. Chad, the bartender, talked me into trying a local brewery IPA. It too was great!Thank you Chef Michael, Chad and staff. See you in the spring when we return to hunt turkeys.

Location full of local character and sincerely friendly, invested staff. Delicious tomato pie on special. Foods clearly freshly prepared and presented simply yet attractively. Indoor and outdoor seating that feels cozy -- good spaces for conversations that aren't overwhelmed by other noise and also don't feel as if they can be overheard by everyone. Some parking.

We were on our way to Smith Mountain Lake and stopped at one of our all time favorite restaurants. Located next to active railroad tracks this old station has been updated to show the old and new railroad items. 3 dining areas to include a nice bar we sat in the main dining area. We got a grilled chicken Salad and a fried chicken salad. Large portion and fresh salad vegetables with egg and cheese on top. So good. We also got a crock of fresh baked bread (3 different types) with flavored butter. Cokes. $22.45 Worth the stop for atmosphere, history and ESPECIALLY THE FOOD. Lots of parking. A 5 + stop!
