The green colored guesthouse is wonderful; centrally located, distance close to the main road and walking distance the visitor center and Matri Mandir in Auroville. The rooms are very clean in good condition. The staff is very friendly and the kitchen served special healthy yogi-like vegetarian food-almost gluten-free and vegan - yummy!
Nice place and ambience. Room size was little small but other than everything was good. Very near to matrimandir and even the restaurant food was good. They also provide room service and also have swimming pool. They have trees planted all around

Auroville, the experimental township of global peace and unity, has a vibe of its own - green, breezy and quiet. This little township located to the far end of Pondicherry also has a beach of its own, often less crowded by the tourist rush. Nestled in the heart of Auroville, just 5 km from the beach, lies this exclusive resort - a perfect place perfect for those travelling with their close-knit groups. Emerald lawns speckled with flowerets of cheerful hues, canopies made by the towering trees, the dainty sit-outs in the gardens - these little nuances of beauty would sweep you off your feet at first sight. Your dwellings come appointed with all modern comforts - cushioned beds, fine upholstery and essential furnishings. Swathed in natural lights, and done in subtle decor, these rooms sports the breezy vibes of Pondicherry. Balconies look out to the breathtaking greens, and the living room is the perfect place to cozy up with your loved ones and engage in conversations. The rooms, essentially non-smoking, has all needed amenities including a minibar - just the thing you needed when in this laid back town. The beautifully landscaped garden is a serene place for those who loves quiet mornings, who likes to take some time of their own, indulge in a walk, some yoga or meditation. All the other things of luxury, that you need to make your holiday a complete one are available here - a hot tub, a fitness center, massages, and a steam room. The sumptuous buffet breakfast is a special treat, and other times of the day, you can order in North Indian and South Indian food. And in case you want to try out the exclusive range of fare that Pondicherry is famous for, there are numerous eateries just outside the Auroville gate. The places close to the villa are the Matri Mandir, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, and the beach. And if you want to venture out and explore the beautiful yellow toned town, you could rent a car from the resort, and drive around the streets of Pondicherry. Get the chance to witness a township that is a world of its own, create memories for a lifetime.
Second time we've stayed here. Very friendly staff, very tranquil and relaxing place. Great swimming pool. Breakfast is a bit basic, and usually only Indian breakfast of idly's etc. It's also in a great area just outside Auroville itself and about 15 minutes by tuk-tuk to Pondicherry. There's even a cash point now pretty much next door, when there never used to be, plenty of places to eat and Jeffi - the best place to eat in the whole area - is only a few doors down. Great value for money.

The garden was lovely and the room spacious. Unfortunately the power went out at night and the generator had run out of fuel. No fan, no a/c. It would have been bearable in winter but in May it was terrible. The hotel was not very apologetic. They were more concerned with our registration docs, which they messed up.

Sharnga Guest House is located in Sharnga community, one of the 150 settlements in Auroville. Sharnga community was started by Claude and Bernard on a barren land in 1976, first as a farm then as a stud farm having up to 40 horses. In 1992, when it was time to evolve and change once again, the horse sheds were transformed into rooms to welcome new comers into Auroville and guests as a co project of Bernard and Sigrid. Slowly Sharnga Guest House grew into a full-fledged Guest House it is today. The farm also grew into a residential community with each new resident their own work and activity. Sharnga is a “forest” guest house under big trees and in the middle of a lush, green, natural garden. Birds, butterflies, fish, horses, dogs, bugs, also share this environment with us humans. As most animals and insects are shy and seasonal one does not always see or meet them, but if you are quiet and lucky, you might be privileged enough to meet one or more of our co-habitants.
I spent 2 nights in Sharnga and this is my honest review. The place is far from the city and in a remote location. It is close to Auroville Main Road and Matrimandir but commute is not easy unless you have a car or comfortable riding a cycle. Knowing the route is a must! Maps misguide you. There is no way to book a cab or auto. The staff in the guest house also are not that helpful. The place looks green and serene - can be exciting for someone who wants a foresty ambience, can be overwhelming for someone who is not used to such an ambience. The guest house rooms are cosy, comfortable and have a good vibe. Breakfast served is decent. No lunch or dinner options. Only black tea and coffee and a kettle available in the common area. If you need more, you have to make arrangements. Swiggy delivery available but may charge extra. Cons There is only one person managing the administrative tasks. The two people managing are helpful and attend to your requests but overall maintenance is an issue. The bathrooms are not that well maintained. There are transparent windows in the rooms and there is always the fear of someone peeking in. Hot water takes some time to come. My room lock wasnt working properly and I had to shuttle between rooms till that was fixed Repeated follow ups had to be done and even when they said it got fixed, it wasnt - there is no attention to detail Random people switch off mains and geyser and you are left wondering if it is a power cut or something wrong The place gets really dark after 6 pm and it is so desolate that you will feel as if you are the only one in the guest house (if you are a solo traveller) The owners are rude and indifferent to some and super friendly to others There is no guidance, assistance Overall the people arent that welcoming, the place has a great vibe though You will be okay if you are super independent and can manage things on your own Also note this is not a resort or a party friendly place!

Dharmakanni tropical huts is a place very well located just steps away from Auroville beach. It is a hidden paradise where the traveler can sleep in a beautiful treehut while enjoying the night breeze coming from the sea, listening the enchanting sound of the ocean waves as well as the birds singing. One can also take a rest in a hammock or get lost in the exquisite decoration of its gardens. I would say that the whole place is a piece of art, a beautiful demonstration of human creativity. It was also amazing to enjoy a wonderful meal along to other travelers around the bonfire. Carmelo, the artist behind the decoration and a great European cook is a fountain of perpetual artistic ideas not just related to the beautiful ambience in the place, but also in the fashion area. I spend also a precious time with the owner's wife who is a very sweet lady from Malaysia living in Germany. I was DELIGHTED with the experience. It was beyond my imagination! I recommend this place very much!

They have a small kitchen within the campus which provides simple but good food. Very beautiful and serene place. Courteous staff, close to visitors centre. Overall, amazing experience and looking forward for my next visit !! Thank you so much.

The only reason to stay there is if you want to surf or swim in the sea. Swimming on your own in the sea may be dangerous unless you booked a professional swimcoach such as Auroswim. All in all, I expected a bit quieter atmosphere.

Uniquely situated between Pondicherry, Auroville, the beach and Pondy Airport, Inn Pondiville is tucked into the edge of Abri Forest. All rooms are air conditioned with attached western baths & private sit-outs that offer a view of the quiet surrounding. Ideal for families, writers and artistes who need an environ that allows them to be in the thick of the action and yet ... away from it all ...
Disclaimer : This is run by a friend. It is not easy to find a easy relaxed space in Tamilnadu. Outside the city of Pondicherry on the Tamilnadu side of the border, in the edge of the Auroville forest, Inn Pondiville is a great family getaway. We found the swimming pool to be a highlight. Almost private, clean and well maintained one can spend hours in the pool. We did all meals in an outside canopy. Breakfast is the typical Tamil spread freshly cooked everyday. One of the secrets in this place is to ask the staff to cook off menu for yourself. Ensure they make the local food, local fish, chicken. A highlight in Kara Kozhambu, spicy with lots of garlic, it is a delight with rice. A nice and clean beach is 5 mins drive, there is plent of cheap booze which one can drink in private. Wifi is spotty - but didnt bother us at all. Ask Pravina for good recommendations around the area. If you have your own bicycle, then Auroville can be delight. Excellent value for money, we are bound to go back for long weekend. Enjoy this place
