La Casona de Amandi

La Casona de Amandi is a very special Casona, situated just 1klm from the centre of Villaviciosa. With over 12,000 metres of gardens we offer our clients a relaxed stay in the company of pure nature. We have 9 rooms, 2 of which are junior suites that are ideal for families. The Casona has a very special history as it was built for the founder of the famous cider house El Gaitero " in 1850. The Casona has been fully refurbished, offering all modern ameneties, including free WIFI in all areas. In our surrounding area we have so many excursions to offer, a rafting experience in the River Sella, mountaineering, horse riding in the mountains, pre-romanic monuments, beautiful sandy beaches and all the help you will need to enjoy the "Asturian" lifestyle.

Beautiful

Reviewed By Jane E

Before arriving at Casona de Amandi I had thought that the hotel was overpriced but having now stayed there I think that it is if anything underpriced for the quality of the building, surroundings and service. This is a simply lovely place. The building is historic and decorated appropriate for its age. There are extensive seating areas inside, some with cupboards full of books and others with access to the outside. The grounds are huge and well cared for with seating dotted around under the eaves and on the lawns. It is in a word, beautiful. My room was a standard size with a queen bed, small table and chair. The window opened on to the street but Amandi is such a quiet village that there was no undue noise even when the window was open. The bathroom was a good size with the shower over a tub. I loved the original wooden floorboards that listed a little to one side. Very much in keeping with the age of the house. There is an honesty bar on the ground floor with virtually any drink that you could want plus ice maker and lemons. The room also has an espresso maker and kettle for tea. The breakfast room is nicely decorated with well spaced tables. A substantial packed meal was left out for me because I was leaving before breakfast hours and was much appreciated during my strenuous walk along the Camino de Santiago. The proprietors speak good English and are very helpful. The wifi wasn’t really good in my room but I expect there are parts of the house where it works just fine. The quality of the Casona de Amandi was a welcome surprise and it is highly recommended.

Beautiful Room in 17th Century Hotel

Reviewed By Bob E

We stayed for two nights while walking the Camino Norte. The hotel is situated directly on the Camino route in the centre of town. This was a lovely place to stay, in a very friendly small hotel. The hotel is maintained to a high standard while keeping the best of the 17th century features. Our room was spacious overlooking the square. The square is a buzzing hive of activity particularly on Friday and Saturday nights, so ear plugs would be advantageous unless you want to join in the partying. Breakfast was excellent especially for two hungry walkers.

peace and quiet in a nice rural home

Reviewed By nac52

I thought the Hotel Alavera was a great choice. the hotel is a large country house is a small neighborhood between interesting Villaviciosa and supercute Tazones, one of the loveliest towns I've seen in Spain. and right by the breathtaking beach of Rodiles. our hostess treated us wonderfully and regaled us with a huge breakfast that included all the usual plus homemade cake. the house is surrounded by a large yard filled with small animals, and inside is something I love: tons of interesting books of all different sorts, fiction and much non-fiction on Asturias, the local region. the room was perfect, everything was clean, and the hotel owner was extremely patient with us when our hotel voucher was not working, which was not at all the hotel's fault but our own. thanks for a nice stay. ¡todo fenomenal, gracias!

The apartment is exactly as shown, comfy for a couple~ small but totally functional kitchen. The highlight is the view - and the managers Tanya and Jose. Warm welcome and super breakfast

Reviewed By 289dawnw

This is a rustic hotel in a quiet rural setting. We were received with a really warm welcome and shown to our comfortable room on the ground floor. The bed was big, the linens crisp and there was ample storage space. The toiletries, towels and bathroom were fine. We had a good night’s sleep and were woken by birdsong and a rooster. Breakfast was delicious with newly laid free range eggs, locally sourced bacon and pastries made on the premises. This is one of the nicest breakfasts I have had. This hotel is in a peaceful setting and offers very good value. The warmth of the welcome is exceptional.

Wonderful old house turned into a Hotel with friendly staff and comfortable, quiet rooms!

We walked into town and were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the people and the great location of this hotel. It is on a small square with the local tourist office just across the way in another refurbished historic building. Our room here had old Spanish architectural character with heavy wooden door shutters which made sleeping easy since they blocked out street noise. I consider this hotel a gem in a small, busy town. What a find! Stay here!

A bunch of liars - beware

Reviewed By marjolie

People who are able to lie so shamelessly and behave so rudely to customers should be avoided. There are lots of other hotels in Asturias ! They tried to pressure me into accepting another hotel and wouldn't apologize for their mistake. It is the first it happens to me any where in the world. Avoid by all means.
