We found this restaurant by accident, walking through the streets. We decided to give it a try on the next evening. Awesome! We had starters, main dish and postres. Awesome and cheap, only 24 cuc for 3 coctails and 3x2 courses! The waiters are attentive and polite. Did I mentioned that the food was awesome?

The BdM new location in Santa Clara, I believe the newest in Cuba, is a nice addition to this Cuban restaurants brand. I went there invited by some friends, without even knowing it was opened and got pleasantly surprised by the good level of service and the great quality of the food its served. The restaurant is centrally located at one corner of the central park. The layout of the restaurant is nice, although it doesn’t have a patio (at least didn’t get to see it), we didn’t care since the bar is open to the street and the restaurant section is in the back with nice space. The food was great, really authentic Cuban food and the Cuban croquetas and the Ropa Vieja cooked here were the best I’ve tasted on any BdM locations; we were a big party (more than 8 ppl) and all the other dishes (roasted pork, beef, picadillo habanero, fish dishes) looked amazing. The mojitos –the best and not shy of alcohol. And the service level of everybody at this place is excellent; from the bartenders to the servers all did a good job.If by any chance it happens you’re in Santa Clara and yearning for a nice meal, visit La Bodeguita del Medio de Santa Clara and then you thank me.

This is a great hangout especially at the weekends. The locals mix with travellers, all very friendly and sociable and the bar staff knock out excellent mojitos. There was a really good band playing as well, all older gentlemen, it could have been the Buena Vista Social Club for all we knew. This is a really rocking place in the heart of Santa Clara, definitely worth a visit.

The environment of the restaurant is very nice and the service is very attentive. I had lobster which was slightly overcooked and chewy, and my husband had a fish plate. It was overall nothing special.

Away from the resort, we visited Don Quijote with two Cuban friends who were touring us around for the day. We had expressed to them that for lunch, we would like to go to a restaurant where Cubans would go to have a great meal, so they took us to Don Quijote. Once inside, you cross a bridge over a little stream to an interior which gives the impression that you are dining in a beautiful garden grotto. The buffet and grill offer many choices of fare and did not disappoint. It was a delicious education as we tried certain vegetables and dishes which were particular to the area. What a treat!

The locals recommended this restaurant. They feature Cuban Paella, which is popular at the restaurant. The hostesses were attentive and very gracious. Dinner for two was roughly $24 CUC, but you can definitely eat for about $14 CUC for two persons, as the menus is extensive. Although I give El Sol a three star rating, it is my opinion that most of the food we had in Santa Clara was a three. This restaurant has rooftop seating, which invites a nice evening breeze.

The inside of this restaurant is beautiful -- lovely furniture, art and settings. The service was friendly and there was live piano music over lunchtime. This all made for a very pleasant experience. Oh, and the food was good too. People at our table had chicken and steak, and most enjoyed it thoroughly. And the restaurant is conveniently located just a couple of blocks away from the main square.

Really regretted visiting this ‘restaurant’. I think just don’t arrive before 7:30pm as they are not ready by then. I arrived at 6:15pm and it took them 45 min to provide some bread and salad. Then now it’s 7:08pm and there’s no sign of any food on all tables! Or just don’t arrive when you are starving. Then at 7:11pm, my so-called their signature shredded beef arrived. Omg. It’s only the shredded beef that costs 2-3CUC in local restaurants or in Saborearte. No difference. The restaurant that tops the trip advisor list in Santa Clara can do far better than this. As I mentioned in other trip advisor reviews. Nearly all restaurants in cuba do nearly the same dish, the difference is the price. Those for tourists, especially in restaurants like this, just charge four times the price as it targets tourists. If you don’t like eating with local Cuban people, this is the place to go.

We had diner here for one night, mostly based on it's great reviews. Opinions may vary. This review is based on our experience. The location is nice as it is situated in one of the small streets in the city centre. When we entered the restaurant it gave us a vacation feeling. The thing with the food is: it's local cuisine. Off course there is such thing as 'taste', but we have to be honest about the Cuban cuisine. It's mainly rice, beans and pork. For us this was a bit dissapointing.hello, I regret not having fulfilled your expectations regarding the menu, I thank you have spent your time to comment on this site, thank you very much, I wish you health and good luck
