Stunning-looking hotel featuring lots of locally quarried marbles and stone

5-star hotel which is certainly very aesthetically pleasing to the eye but perhaps its food lets it down a bit? The decor is stunning and worth a visit just for that alone. Perhaps caught it on a bad day so will have to make a return visit.

Rooms very basic, common areas beautifully decorated.

The hotel is nicely located at the city centre close to the palace and the fortress. It's got a lovely reception area and all the way to the rooms (corridors and other common areas) is beautifully decorated and well maintained. Our room though I found that was very basic in design if I compare it with the hotel in general. Entrance door to our room gave us tough times in closing when leaving the room. Our friends at the room next to us as soon as they entered their room, they noticed that the interconnecting doors between their room and the one next to them were unlocked! They called the reception and the hotel fixed the problem immediately. Breakfast was ok. There was coffee available all day long to take with you any time of the day. Overall it was just fine for one night stay. No thrills.

Full cancelation charges in a pandemic

Booked 2 nights for an emergency trip to vila Vicosa, just after the lockdown in the middle of the pandemic. Had to cancel do to health reasons. This was 2 nights, Monday and Tuesday. Owner refused to reimburse my money saying I canceled too late and suggested a voucher valid for 6 months. I live in Dubai so for me this was not an option. I work in the tourism sector for 28 years all around the world and have never experienced this. An enormous disappointment and for sure a place I will not recommend to my clients in the middle east.
