By far I believe this is the best fish and chippery in the Macedon ranges. The fish is always fresh and the chips crispy. The owners - Ange and Chris, are always friendly, as with their staff. The place does become quite busy on a Friday and Saturday night so best to put a phone order in if you can. Enjoy!

I visited Evan's Wine and Cheese Bar last night (Saturday) with a group of friends from the Macedon Ranges Running Club. One of our friend's booked seating for the eleven of us and we were fortunate to be placed in the lounge area with an open fire place. From the moment we walked in the staff greeted us and quickly took our drink orders. Shortly after receiving our drinks our food orders were taken. Even the food came out relatively quickly. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night with constant friendly service. The food on offer includes tapas, cheese platters, fried potatoes, deep fried mushrooms in batter, a bowl of chips just to name a few. The food was tasty and moderately priced. The beverages selection included red/white wines, sparklings, beers and spirits. The selection was quite comprehensive. Even they were moderately priced. The wine bar is still undergoing changes with the owner's informing us that they intend to include a cocktail bar in the former '5 Kings Cafe' part which abuts the wine bar section (formerly Bay Tree Cafe). Overall we had a great time in a nice cosy and inviting atmosphere. A credit to the new owners? We will be back! Cheers, Paul

The first thing i noticed was the terrible attitude of the staff, we were popping in for a quick coffee and a cake, because we were not ordering big we were looked at like scum. The wait was terrible and they were not busy and the cake and two coffees was an absolute rip off. Poor customer service was definitely the killer thoughGood Morning Penny, Can you please give me an idea of time and day you popped in to the cafe, better still would you mind phoning me direct, (03) 5429 6567. We pride ourself on having a very friendly team and while, sadly, I am unable to change your experience I can certainly discuss with the staff member(s) working at the time. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss with you further at your convenience.Merry Christmas, Cassy & The Verdure Team

What can you say....overwhelmingly good. Great service+++, scrumptuous meal and plenty of it +++, lovely atmosphere +++. Great value despite being a bit pricey for a Saturday lunch. I remember the experience and food over the cost for this fine meal - that is value. This was a fabulous find whilst out touring the countryside one Saturday in September.Ample street parking and clean powder room.

Called in here looking for dinner as everything was shut being Easter Monday. The typical country pub looking basic restaurant didnât inspire, but had surprisingly good food. The garlic bread was v good, but the vegetarian risotto was outstanding! As good as Iâve ever had. With a nice glass of local red was a very nice meal.

The Restaurant @ Glen Erin has been in operation since October 1993 and is the oldest established restaurant in the beautiful Macedon Ranges. We offer guests elegant dining with superb country hospitality in a magnificent rural, vineyard setting. The Rest

Good value for money and very enjoyable meal. Staff attentive and meals came promptly. Good selection on the menu. Hotel well supported by the locals, a good indicator of the quality of meals. In the room where we ate there were lots of meals going past to the bar with plates coming back empty.

A warm welcoming place with great atmosphere, excellent coffee, delicious light meals & yummy cakes/desserts. We bake our own pies and pasties and have many speciality vegan lines.
Myself and my girlfriend were looking forward to stopping in here and trying some of the vegan options, which was surprising to find in a small/rural town. We arrived just before or on 2.30pm and were flatly told that the kitchen was closed. What really annoys me, is that places (including this one) advertise on their Facebook page etc, that they close at 3pm. They make no mention on the site, that the kitchen may (or does) close early. So we were told that it was cakes and coffee. We had been driving all day and was looking forward to the food offerings. We then spotted some pies in the cabinet, which were advertised as veggie/vegan. We thought we could at least have those. The girl serving at the register, said that they are all cold pies and when asked, she wouldn't even heat them up, when there was literally a microwave behind her. We took the pies anyway and heated them up in our accommodation later on. They were boring, minimal filling, tasteless and overpricedDissapointing business attitude, service and also should be more clear on their own website, regarding the hours of opening, versus actual kitchen hours.
