A change of menu and still fantastic food, the chicken club sandwich, constructed on three slices of toasted multigrain bread with tomato, avocado, lettuce, aioli, served with a side salad and the best crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle chips!!! Wine by the glass too. Value for money, Water bottle and glasses brought to the table too. Thank you Lauren for looking after us.
We hand make our own fudge & ice creams on the premises - come in and enjoy a new experience!
My partner experienced a very tasty ice cream with real ginger pieces the first time we visited, but my ice cream tasted stale as if it had melted and had been refrozen. Next visit my partner excitedly ordered the ginger ice cream which was really ordinaryand the owner admitted it was flavoured with ginger powder. My coffee ice cream was quite tasty and fresh this time.
This place was recommended by our camp site and it certainly lived up to its billing! Our only disappointment was that they'd run out of snapper and barramundi because they'd been so popular. Our campsite had obviously sent too many people there!!Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our meals. I had the falafel meal, which was very tasty. My friend had the flake (fish), which came with an enormous pile of chips. Another friend had pizza. The owners were very friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had all we wanted. There are two places to sit and eat your meal - some tables out the front, on the pavement, and also a shaded area to the side. Excellent value too. Highly recommended.

Right in the centre of town the hotel is a convenient dining venue. Service is done with a smile. Good pub food and a great range of beverages in a contemporary atmosphere. Happy to return.

The Kangaroo opened its doors in 1856. Starting with a tent, later a timber building was moved here from nearby Fryerstown and a brick structure was erected in the late 1800's. It was a different way of life during the early gold rush days in which there
Firstly: we attended the Kangaroo Hotel on a Saturday night; a 40th party was being held; there was a big local swap meet the next morning; and it was the Queen's Birthday long weekend holiday in Victoria. In other words, it was very busy. We understand that. We understand that it might take some time to get meals. OK. So what happened? Well, the place was packed, but it did have a great vibe. We ordered meals and were told it might take 30-40 minutes. Understood. Accepted. HOWEVER...it took an hour to get our entree (special: pumpkin soup, which I must admit was delicious and very warming). One main took another 20 minutes to arrive (Chicken parma: fine, but it's pretty hard to stuff up a chicken parma) and the second main took ANOTHER 20 minutes to arrive..that is nearly 1 3/4 hours to get both the mains. Not happy. Worse than this though was the second main: beef cheek with fettucine. I have had this dish before and it is one of my favourites. This one was not up to scratch. Firstly, I had to ask the bar staff what was happening with it, and ir was only this prompt that made them find out. The meal itself was definitely sub standard: far from being "al-dente", it was a gluggy floury mess. While the beef was tasty, the pasta was terrible. I would have refused it, but as it was now after 10pm, it was too late to get another main meal. Lessons?DON'T go to the 'Roo on a Saturday night, especially a busy one, and DON"T order the beef cheek fettucine.SUMMARY: Very disappointed

Wish weâd gone here for early dinner instead of the Kangaroo Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining cake ingredients as our kids have allergies. Carrot cake , cheesecake, coffee and tea were all excellent. We were going to go back tomorrow but shut Monday and Tuesdays. Highly recommended

The Spotted Cow has had some very good reviews, so we thought we would give it a try. Set in a old building on Maldon's main street, it is a warm and comfortable place, with VERY friendly and attentive staff. We were informed by our most apologetic waitress (on her first night!) that they had run out of most of one of the retaurant's main drawcards: STEAK!!! OH NO! All they had left was eye fillet. So, my wife and I both went for eye fillet. Now, before I get to that, the entrees (beef cheek papardelle and classic Italian bruschetta) were both delicious. 5/5. Then we get to the mains. THE...STEAK...WAS...TO...DIE...FOR!!! I cannot recall when I last had steak this good. It was so tender the knife almost fell through it by itself...this was really "melt in the mouth" meat...tender, juicy, flavoursome...it ticked EVERY box. I only wish we had gone there the night before as well! I don't often order steak when eating out as I have been disappointed more than once, but if you do like nice steak, I urge you STRONGLY to order one if you go here. Oh, and the cheese platter for afters was very nice too! If I had to be REALLY picky, I would say that some aspects of their drinks list...especially spirits, and most especially gins...are a bit too thin. But all this is relative, because the food is what this place is all about.VERDICT: Top recommendation; a must-do if eating in Maldon
