The Oak Tree Tavern is the best kept secret in the hills. A favourite amongst locals offering a friendly welcome, great food and great beer! Throughout the week The Oak Tree's varied entertainment line-up includes live bands, jam sessions and special even
This is an old style British pub in an otherwise Australian setting. It has a nice atmosphere though and a band was setting up while we were there. It has lots of oddments on the walls so the place is a little on the cluttered side. In the meantime there was a dvd playing music from Creedence Clearwater Revival. It seemed to me to be similar to what I remember seeing in the TV series Coronation Street.Found the meal to be disappointing with the fish and chips a bit on the greasy side, but that could be just me. Others might find it to their liking. And given the $24 price tag I felt what was on the plate did not justify the cost.Another thing I could have done without was the sticky table. I don't believe other tables had been wiped down very often either. A customer said the place was under new management so maybe they were just getting themselves into gear.I'll give them a go another time but would not be rushing though. It was warm though which was good as outside it was quite cold.

Micawber Tavern is a long time favourite destination of the Dandenong Ranges region. With lots on offer such as fully licensed bar featuring local and international beers, a full a la carte menu for lunch and dinner and also including bar meals. The Micaw
One of my most favorite spots to return too. Over the last 7 years and not one bad moment. Great food, friendly atmosphere and great music on a Saturday night. Nice place to hang out with friends, family or a nice dinner for two after a busy week and a dance. ALove the Micawber Tavern night or day, it is always special.

Located in the majestic Dandenong ranges, we offer top notch coffee, scrumptious brunches all day and a proper english afternoon tea, enjoyed with a glass of bubbles in our fabulous gardens. Our innovative Winter menu includes grilled mushrooms & stilton,
After reading the most recent positive reviews we came here for lunch ... I wished we hadnât. The service was friendly but thatâs where the positive feedback ends. We had pumpkin soup which was too watery, chicken baguette with avocado smash but the baguette was rock hard and dry, a salad with cranberries and beetroot ... my wife found ONE cranberry and ONE tiny piece of beetroot in her salad :)To top it off my daughter had to sent her chai latte back twice... first time it was too weak, second time she got only hot milk because they forgot to put the tea leaves in the pot and the third time she got served soy chai latte instead of normal chai latte. However, to be fair we did not have to pay for the three lattes.Anyway, as locals we are disappointed that our first time visit to Brunch will also be our last. :(

This is meant to be the best home made pie cafe. Disappointing to say the least. The meat inside pie was very dry and the seasoning non existent. We tried the classic beef bergamot and beef with kidney pies. Very bland and not much meat inside. Did not finish because it was not good. People who say the pies are good must have no taste buds and very low food expectations. The atmosphere inside is dull and depressingly dark, old and worn out. The colouring pencils my son was given weren't sharpened and the sharpener was broken. If they can't get the pies tasty it's not a surprise the atmosphere is depressing and it carries on throughout the cafe. Don't bother. Get a frozen pie as there's no difference in quality or taste..

Me and my wife went for some lunch. very over priced for very poor food. every seemed microwaved, sandwiches if you can call them that are start from $16 which comprises of 2 slices of toast with a topping. scones which are not scones. you feel very rushed when in there so cant relax and enjoy. the building its self is nice. china ware is old and plain. not a great experience.

My 1st visit was for the Xmas in July, very busy with great food, service and atmosphere. We were a large group and had a great time.Last night it was dinner with my husband. The place was packed, as usual, so booking is a good idea. Same friendly staff and very casual, cheerful vibe about the place. However, the meals, particularly the very good parmas, are HUGE! It is good pub food, and there is a good selection of beers on tap. A nice cosy place for dinner on a winters evening.
