We visited on a Saturday for lunch and enjoyed the outdoor dining area and the rear of the Hotel. The food was of a great standard, brought out quickly and I loved the identification boxes they use rather than plain numbers on a stand. Large range on the drinks menu did not dissappoint those in our group. Great to also be able to see where the smoke pit for the food.

Beautiful, reasonably priced for dinner. Does not have an extensive menu. Had the lamb shoulder, which was delicious, especially considering I am not usually a lamb fan. Decent range of alcoholic drinks. Finished off with a decaf coffee, which actually had a robust flavour for a decaf.

We visited on Saturday afternoon (about 3pm) for wine tasting, not knowing anything about the food offerings - our mission was to taste the wines (because that's what we do). And we had a very enjoyable and educating experience.Firstly, note that this venue is primarily a wine tasting / cellar door facility and wine bar. But with food options available at times (recommend to phone ahead to enquire). Overall - Good staff with good wine knowledge, and a reasonable quantity of wine for each tasting (unlike some cellar doors that are so stingy with the quantity that it is hard to discern). And the tasting glasses were a good quality and good size for proper wine appreciation. The only negative about the venue in my opinion is that they ought to have a "Sales Order Form" or "Tasting Notes" sheet to take away, on which we can write our own notes and keep track of what we liked and didn't like. Many cellar doors do this, but not this one (yet). (I have kept my 30+ years worth of notes - a very handy reference.)The wines - The wines on tasting here are from the Mac Forbes winery which is about 10km out of Healesville, more than half way to Woori Yallock. And the wines are produced under separate labels and made from grapes from several vineyards including from further afield (Strathbogie Ranges).Wine Tasting - On the Saturday afternoon we visited there were quite a few wines offered for tasting, with a tasting fee (which is very common in California which we visited in May, and will become the trend in the Yarra Valley to help cover the costs). The "Flight 1" included 5 wines for $10, while the "Flight 2" (of Single Vineyard wines) included 7 wines for $20. Bear in mind that the take-away bottle price for purchases ranges from $35 to $70 (a $15 discount off the drink-here price that is listed on the menu). Some of the wines are also labelled "EB" - for Experimental Batch - such as the EB44 2018 Controversy Nebbiolo (a controversy because it was released before the wine from the previous vintage).Tasting TIP - For our tasting we didn't want to try any white wines, so we ended up doing a total of 8 red wines for $20. They were all very drinkable, and some were quite good, including the EB38 Pinot Syrah Blend. So you can mix and match the wines in your tasting "flight". Oh, and ask for an explanation of any terminology on the Tasting Flights menu (eg. declassified barrels).Seating TIP - When you enter this smallish venue, there are tables and seats in the main room, but there is another large table in a somewhat private area up the steps behind the large wine rack. For our extended stay, this was better than sitting downstairs in the main room near the draughty front door.TIP - Location and parking? - The venue is just around the corner off the main drag in Healesville, with good car parking around the back in a large open area.
