The owner himself does the cooking here and does not take constructive criticism well at all.Our food was terrible and when raised they owner became very aggressive. Give it a missHi there. Obviously very disappointed you had a bad experience with us and please accept my apologies. However, I canât recall this incident at all. I certainly havenât been aggressive at any point to any customer, so feel free to call in some time to discuss.

Went for lunch last Sunday.$12.00 meals whilst small were very tasty. The roast pork was cut too thick and was a bit chewy. However the pork crackling was sensational!Older bar attendant was pleasant but the younger staff need to be a bit more friendly as the majority of customers were retirees and I feel they deserve a little bit more pampering( my opinion only!)All in all probably the best cheap lunch in Bairnsdale!

I wasn't sure to start with. BMW motor bikes in the foyer along with caged Eclectus parrots. Décor is pleasant in a 70's fashion but linen table cloths and napkins lifted the ambience. The menu isn't large but well varied. They pride themselves on their steaks so I had to try the t-rex T-bone which is HUGE. It was perfectly cooked to my request of medium rare and was accompanied by a garlic gravy, an excellent salad and chips. My wife is especially fussy when it comes to how her steak is cooked and her fillet (about a 70mm "cube") was perfectly cooked right through and could have been cut with a fork! The service from the owner was first class and friendly. Total bill including a good bottle of Penfold's red was $100. We'll be back!!

Attached to the Bairnsdale International hotel was Maiseyâs restaurant. The restaurant was spacious with each table afforded a good amount of space which made for an intimate and quiet setting. Both my partner and I had steak with accompanying sauces which was competitively priced around $30 each. The food was served beautifully and tasted delightful and was accompanied by a wine list featuring a number of local Australian wines. Admittedly eating here was mainly driven by the fact that we were staying at the hotel, but regardless of this fact it would have made for a nice place for an evening meal.

Found a place for the daily grind. Just off the main street and the hustle and bustle of life. Great coffee and environment. Have never eaten here but food looks great and smells delicious every morning. I love the building and its rustic Ness, love to live in it. All that aside, a great all rounder with a quiet place to sit, in or out. Good job ladies.

We are never dissapointed when we go to The Old Grain Store in Bairnsdale! It doesn't matter if we go for a coffee, lunch or dinner, we are always well looked after by their friendly and helpful staff. The building has been done up beautifully and the renovation photos around the restaurant really tell a story. The meals are massive and delishious! I can highly recommend the Lemon Pepper Squid for lunch, the Ribs for dinner and the Sticky date pudding for dessert! Well done guys!

Situated in Bairnsdale, Mr. D Food & Coffee is conveniently located on the bustling corner of Main and Service streets.
The food was very nice. Well seasoned and tasty. Coffee was a bit mediocre. The staff were inexperienced and flustered. It felt as though they hadnât been adequately trained....they didnât seem to remember simple things like cutlery and it took several prompts to get things like our menus etc. I donât think we will be back. Whilst the food was good, the wait for it was long, service was poor and overall Iâd rate this experience as average.

Traditional bistro style meals with flair and originality.
We often have lunch here on our way to or going home from Lakes. Entrance, or just out for a day in Bairnsdale. We can honestly say we have never had a bad meal here! The food is reasonably priced and they always have specials. Try the tasting plate for two.... absolutely delicious! The staff are always warm, helpful and welcoming. The head chefs are EB and Tegan, the apprentice chefs Jacob and Bonnie. If you are really lucky you may be served by the delightful Stacey.Thank you very much for your excellent review and comments regarding our food and staff. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and great food. We look forward to your next visit. Kind Regards,

Oysters kilpatrick @ $21 for 1/2 dozen were passable. Crumbed, grilled scallops were lukewarm, very small and served on a very cold plate with a salad.. Mains were tasty but very expensive . We were seriously underwhelmed. We realise its a local having s go but thought it was very expensive.
