Lunched with friends on a hot summers day and loved the spectacular view on offer.
Our friends are regulars and love the place so it is disappointing that I find myself somewhat at odds with them.
The four of us shared a couple of entrees the highlight of which was definitely the calamari salad--nice and tender with a beautiful salad dressing that was the show stopper.
The others either had the fish or seafood salad with Haloumi and were enthusiastic about their choices.
I chose the pipi and scampi spaghetti which was frankly underwhelming--firstly the bowl of food was presented by itself--no finger bowl or additional bowl to put the shells of the cockles and the scampi which had to be peeled. This was quickly rectified by a more mature waitress who apologised for this oversight.
I guess I would normally not make an issue of this but it highlights the service difficulties of the whole afternoon. Firstly we had a wait of some 50 minutes for our entrees to arrive and they only did so when our friend went and enquired as to where they were. The staff are in the main quite young and inexperienced but when you are paying as much as is charged here then I think they need to be better trained.
To make things worse the pipi's were grossly overcooked and rubbery and the scampi dry and tasteless.
Perhaps the Tripadvisor reviews say it all--you either love the place or are disappointed--almost 90 of the 337 reviews here are either average or worse--most unusual for a restaurant that sets out to be the best in town

A Victor Harbor icon which has served fantastic food to locals and travellers alike for well over 30years. Caters for casual meals, functions, celebrations or any reason. Only top quality ingredients, Australian seafood, and MSA approved meat used. Outdoor area, upstairs function area and child friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, breakfast Sundays from 9am. We are proud to provide full table service, EFTPOS facilities, dietary specific menu options and a very large menu.
Our friend wanted coffee, we preferred a nice triple serve of gelati ice-cream. I was disappointed that the ice-cream was served in a paper, not real, cup, with the tiniest plastic spoon to eat it. A little more care in presentation would not go amiss. Our guest loved her flat white coffee, though.

Located on the beautiful seafront in a state heritage listed building, the charming Anchorage restaurant is the perfect place to relax and sample some of the Fleurieu's finest produce. Open daily for breakfast, lunch & dinner, The Anchorage's seasonal menu's showcases the best of local produce. From wholesome breakfasts to incredible local seafood dishes and locally made cakes & pastries there is something to please everyone on the menu. Little ones are also welcome and our children's menu is sure to please. The 100% South Australian wine list features wines from many small up and coming wine makers with a focus on showcasing wines from the talented local McLaren Vale region and beers & ciders are from small local craft producers. Coffee is roasted locally in collaboration with a small Adelaide Hills coffee roaster. Onsite accommodation is also available, our seafront Spa Suites are sure to delight. Function spaces are also available.
This is a gorgeous old hotel with plenty of indoor and outdoor Seating with water views. We shared delicious gf Korean chicken, cooked to perfection and so tasty. For main I enjoyed a perfectly cooked gf Calamari on an Asian salad and my partner a baked barramundi. We enjoyed beautiful wines by the glass. Staff were very friendly and table service is offered. We did not feel rushed and the spacing of the meals was good. Highly recommend.

Have called in a few times in the last couple of weeks for coffee. Always greeted by friendly and efficient staff. Coffees are great as are the assorted cakes. Stop by for breakfast, lunch, a snack or just a coffee. The menu offers a variety of meal and drinks. Ten out of ten.

Service friendly, helpful and staff were genuinely interested in the diner. Waitress thoughtfully set up a table for us next to the window. Entree disappointing; doughy dumplings, over sauced oysters. Main course delicious; Cajun chicken moist and perfectly spiced, ribeye steak cooked perfectly and accompaniments matched well. Excellent wine list. Coffee (decaf and regular) full bodied and creamy. Unfortunately no room for dessert, but there was a good choice and it looked delicious

I was skeptical of an indian restaurant in a rural area like Victor- usually they are very bland and westernised. It was near a beachfront too so that usually equates to overpriced/stingy on the ingredients.
It was delicious! We had lamb saag and chicken tindaloo. Big pieces of very good quality meat (even in the lamb dish - too much for me to eat in one sitting!) and home made sauces. Not oily or watered down. The tindaloo was very very spicy though so be warned.

The Coffee Palace is the newest and fast becoming most popular coffee shop in Victor Harbor. Freshly cooked breakfasts, home baked treats, all with local fresh produce and arguably the best coffee.
Visiting Victor Harbour for the first time we loved the fact that such a place still existed !
We both enjoyed huge bowls of veggie soup and hunks of toasted bread on a cold day.
Choice was puried or 'truckie' style. Very friendly ladies doing the cooking and serving, old country style.

Appears the place has been under new management and the younger fellas operating the shop could do with more customer service, managerial and efficiency training.
The line was very long and the process a bit convoluted. Waited over 30minutes on a busy night for fish and chips. Staff didn't know a lot of things about the item and the supervisor he asked grunted something to which I don't think neither the Waitstaff nor I understood? What the? Then I stood there for a good 20seconds awkwardly wondering if my question has been answered.
The chips were ridiculously priced and a $4 minimum??????????????
So I opted for a few other snacks and fish instead (much better money spent $4). Underneath it all they do try but for whatever reason be it a busy day or lack of interest the overall customer experience is pretty poor.
There are definitely great flavours and good classic fish and chips to be served here, they just need improving the service front.

This place was really busy when three of us walked in. Even so, the service was quick and friendly. The food was really nice.
