We stayed here for two nights at the end of a 12-day holiday in Calabria and the Amalfi Coast. My wife and I used it as a base to get to and from Tivoli's Villa Adriana and D'Este before flying home from Rome. It worked out very well. Our room, just below the monastery's church, was clean and comfortable. We did have a few minor quibbles: the shower water pulsed warm and cool...or hot and cold; the shower fitting became detached from the wall, there was no curtain across the bedroom window. We were assured that these matters would be addressed and, in reality, they didn't cause us any problems. A pleasant breakfast was provided in the reception building further down the street. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Because of our failure to plan ahead and discover where exactly the monastery was and where we should park, we got hopelessly lost, despite asking several people where the place was (Veroli has more than one monastery and you can't park that close to this one). So, we forced the man in charge to wait for 20 minutes beyond closing time (19.00). Do not rely on GPS to get you to the right place if you are driving up to the town (and it is always UP!). Aim for the public car park (2€ for overnight parking) just outside the Porta Romana (the town gate on the northern side). Then walk back up to Via Giuseppe Garibaldi where the monastery reception is. Residents can drive up and down this narrow street apparently but we didn't see any cars do so; the "street" is stepped much of the way, with little ramps for small cars! The reception has a map of the town, a list of restaurants and places to visit.

This was a great place to stay. Mario and Carla were really good to us. Mario picked us up and transported us to the B&B because we were walking the Cammino de San Benedetto. He also gave us a ride to the center to have dinner and to make a needed purchase, and then the next morning a ride back to the Cammino route. The room was nice and very quiet. The breakfast was good too. And a spectacular view of the valley from their B&B. Thank you Mario and Carla for your kindness!

This hotel is an absolute gem! The grounds, hotel rooms and common areas are spotless. The staff is wonderful and most accommodating. We held a private dinner for our family members (12 guests) and the food was outstanding - taste, presentation and quantity was superb. We spent 5 days at Uliveto and I'm looking forward to returning next year - would love to spend two weeks there. The surrounding area is beautiful ... the name is fitting as it is surrounded by olive trees. I would recommend this hotel for a wedding, party or simply a place to rest and recharge. I'm looking forward to returning!!

Rooms? Yes, they are very large, newly refurbished, reasonably priced and have free, reasonably performing Wi-Fi. The bed is large and ok, other fittings are 1970, 2-star inn: four stringy coat hangers for a double room, no drawers for clothing at all, no coffee machine. Very basic shower, no soap, few, inconveniently-located hangers or holders for very clean towels. This I am happy to accept out of tradition. More importantly, heating is noisy, off until you get in, limited in power and little effective since it comes from a high up heat exchanger, located there for cooling effectiveness. This is the only drawback that might make me look for another place. Then, there is the restaurant. An obvious magnet for local families at least on a Saturday, serves local traditional fare in huge servings, tasty and light. We had "sagne" (fresh, irregularly cut maltagliati pasta) soup with beans and with chickpeas, and bucatini (thick pierced-through spaghetti) with codfish and tomato sauce, surprisingly light. Before, we ordered three starters that turned out as good and much more substantial than expected: a Roman-styled crostino con alici and Neapolitan-styled fried vegetables and dough. Fried food was less light than it could have been, still more than acceptable. We couldn't possibly consider main courses after this, even if what we saw served around us looked delicious, and even more plentiful. Desserts are home *cooked* from industrial preparations rather than truly home made as they state, leave them alone. Service is friendly and quick. It needs be a bit informal since the place is so packed, and noisy, your serves meanders around three tables to get near one corner of yours, then has to stretch and lean to hand over things to one of you... We welcomed and enjoyed this, may be awkward for a formal business setting or just the touch to break ice and build rapport. Food more than compensates room fittings, for us anyway. We will be back as life may bring us to Ciociaria again.
