Things to do in Springfield
A group of us had dinner at Summerfields at the golf course. We all ordered burgers. They have quite the assortment of burgers. 3 columns of different types of burgers. There is a menu of assorted entrees and nightly specials including prime rib.The service is a little slow, but the food is great. All our burgers were cooked to each of request and come with french fries, wraps come with honemade chips. I think the chips are better than the fries. Prices are good for the product being served. If they can improve on service this would be a great place. Its family friendly as well.
Get the buffalo calzone. Devine. Privately owned with quality feel for an outrageously low price. Great for a lunch quickie.
Springfield has seen more than it's fair share of hard times after the mills and other factories closed decades ago. This cafe is a bright spot in the Downtown. This shop is small but attractive and welcoming. We were here about 3:30 in the afternoon, and most of the tables and chairs were filled with talkative and happy customers. After I had tasted a coffee/milk drink and my wife had sampled her Rooibos Tea, we understood why this cafe is so popular.
A quick bit of comfort foods before a movie. Burgers, taco etc. This restaurant is located downstairs ...so you will not see a storefront...just the sign.

Not the most inspiring decor or menu but good homestyle choices. 2 soft drinks and 2 entrees came to $36 which seemed OK.Battered haddock and smoky barbequeued chicken were both large portions and accompanied by numerous choices of potato and vegetables. The dessert menu looked very extensive and appealing but sadly no room for any this time.

We needed a couple of salads to go and this is our fall back. They were good and the place was busy.

Farm to table dining, if it's not local it's clean and organic. Craft cocktails, local beer and extensive wine list. Evolving menu, changing specials and menu items weekly. Reservations recommended!
We went to the Copper Fox for dinner Saturday night while staying in town for the steampunk festival. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and we absolutely loved the look of the bar. We got the cheese and pickles appetizer which was delicious! My husband is vegetarian so we asked for the salami to come in a separate dish for our friend to eat but it came on the same board as the cheese, pickles, bread, etc. This was disappointing but we were able to take it off as it wasnt touching anything else. My husband and I shared the vegetarian pizza which was okay. It wasnt great but it wasnt bad either. We liked it but probably wouldnt order it again. Our friend got the veal and he said it was very good. I tried a potato wedge and it was very good. We got the espresso martini(?) And those were delicious!! The prices are a little on the higher side but we would definitely eat here again in the future.

We went to Black Rock at the recommendation of a local couple, and couldn't have been more pleased. The salad bar alone is enough to fill up on, and includes great soups, fresh bread, and salads that appear to have been made on the premises (broccoli salad, chicken salad, etc.) We enjoyed the beer selection available, and our kids got a kick out of the menus that light up when you open them :) We had pasta and various types of seafood; I got scallops "on the rock", which is a stone slab you use to cook the food yourself. Perhaps the best scallops I have ever eaten! The only drawbacks we could see was that the wait staff seemed a little harried after a busy dinner rush (never rude), and that we didn't have room to try dessert.

So there are only two restaurants in this town. We ended up having lunch and dinner at this one. Lunch was lovely with a chicken sandwich for me and my wife had a burger which she also enjoyed. Dinner was with a larger group, and I had an enchilada! It was good--not the best enchilada I've had, but I'm very picky about my Mexican cuisine. And this place isn't Mexican at all--so it's ok. Nevertheless, everyone at the table had a good meal. It's a nice place, and we weren't up for a big steakhouse which was the other choice in town. :-) I thought this place felt more family and locally owned.
