A birthday celebration coupled with a compulsion for a mid-winter 'need to get out of the house' and the Fullerton was up to the challenge. A very creative and interesting menu. Our selections were well prepared and presented. Service was prompt, but without a wift of a need to turn our table. The only criticism was that the creamed cauliflower was bland. Good idea but it was too blah in the company of the braised lamb hock. Add some sharp cheddar and a few drops of Outerbridges and it would enhance the hock. Certainly not worth knocking their rating down.OTH: I was very impressed with the children's menu. On the back side of the adult menu with graphics that would appeal to children. The menu selections had some variety. It told me that this is a place that takes their younger patrons seriously and knows that the adults are going to enjoy the evening more if Sally and Jimmy are enjoying the evening also.Portions are large. We may split an appetizer and sale next time.

Wife and I had lunch there and it was a pleasure. Good sandwiches and quick service. There was a wide selection available and we enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. This place was highly recommended by people at Vermont Country Store and they were correct. A good place to stop either before or after shopping.

You can't beat the main dining room for cozy dining on a fall day. We got here at 7pm on a Friday night - it's very charming, very cozy for sure. We might have hit them on a bad night - they were understaffed and we waited literally 30 minutes just to get a drink order. Then, after asking if they could make a negroni, they brought me something that was not a negroni. I realized the bartender put in white vermouth instead of red vermouth and when I asked about it, she was defensive and said "Well, I've always made them that way." That may be, but look it up - Negronis are virtually never made with white vermouth which is a totally different drink than red. But why are we arguing? You mixed the drink wrong and then tried to defend your choice of the incorrect vermouth. My son thought I was being unreasonable. Maybe, but they could have just said they'd didn't know how to make it when I asked. But I digress. I just wanted a "woops, sorry" but instead, I simply asked for a vodka drink.I got the goat cheese beet salad which was fine - and the soup of the day was okay/not great. My son's trout was very good and very fresh - mashed potatoes so so. I mean, for where it is located, it is a nice place to spend a few hours, but in terms of service (super slow), quality of food, you can do better, although maybe not within 30 miles.

Had dinner last Thursday evening. Menu leaves much to be desired, very limited, no specials and strange preparations of almost all entrees. I had the Chicken, which was served with mushroom risotto. The risotto was quite good, a bit over seasoned. But the tiny chicken breast (with some skin still attached ) was disappointing. It was tender, but tiny! A man would have been left hungry for sure. When you pay $21 for a chicken dish, you expect a decent portion size! They are trying to bean upscale restaurant, but definitely aren't there yet. Service and atmosphere were nice. They need to go to Roots in Rutand to see how upscale is perfected.Sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We are proud of what we humbly try to provide for our guests. We are small family owned & run business that strives to provide great hospitality and delishous local food in a casual atmosphere. We hope to see you again and sample more of our season and local menu. Thanks again for visiting us.

Great night on the Patio! Peter Miles was playing his guitar and the staff was cooking barbecue right on the patio! The options were nice: ribs, chicken, swordfish along with sides of your choice. We both enjoyed the ribs with salad, potato salad and grilled corn bread. The food was great as was the music!

Attached to the main inn, Phelps Barn was once a carriage house for guests' horses. All legal beverages served. Free WiFi. NEW sit-down bar, upstairs in the pub.
There aren't many dining options in Grafton, VT, especially in October on a Monday night. But we enjoyed our dinner upstairs by the fire in the Phelps Barn. The meals were not cheap but the food was good.
