Reviews on Contemporary food in Manchester, Vermont, United States. Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, this former iron-mining town today is the quintessential Vermont getaway, complete with a white steeple church, antique shops and cozy country inns. Manchester is a true all-season destination. In winter, skiers arrive to hit the downhill slopes at nearby Bromley and Stratton Mountains or the cross-country trails at Hildene. Spring and summer bring hikers who can opt for easy treks through Merrick Forest or more challenging ones like Prospect Rock, a three-mile hike, mostly uphill, that offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains as reward to those who make it. Manchester fly-fishing is also a popular pastime, drawing enthusiasts from around the country who come to learn or hone their skills. Big name outlet stores in Manchester Center draw shoppers year-round. In the fall, it's all about foliage. Enjoy the vibrant colors from a canoe on the mighty Battenkill River, a bicycle along a scenic path or kick back and take it all in from a comfy rocking chair on the porch of a historic inn. No matter what your vantage point, the show is always spectacular.

What a fabulous dining experience the Reluctant Panther is! From the warm welcome we received as we made our reservation(yes someone actually answered our phone call during this mud season!) to the attentiveness of the wait staff and greeters. We own a local motel here in town and our guests invited us to a birthday celebration as they wanted a casual yet fine dining experience. This was our own first time dining here and I cannot rave enough about our experience . Presentation was wonderful-timing was just right and our waitperson was helpful and even above and beyond when we expressed allergy concerns. KUDOS to chef Sigal and her staff. OMG the food is fantastic, well priced, generous portion and to me-the presentation was the epitome of the experience. Locally sourced and tastefully prepared Our guests felt special and were thrilled to have found a new restaurant for their next trip back to VT. As Vermont Ambassador's we are always on the lookout for the true VT experience in hospitality and dining--Reluctant Panther will be on the top of our list! Bravo--and THANK YOU for a great evening out!

Excellent and friendly service. The sandwiches that we had were excellent and large enough that we both took half home. Thier home made cookies were also very good.
