Excellent new restaurant offering delicious food in a modern alpine setting. We had asparagus risotto to start, then fish and black garlic chocolate for desert. Arrive early for a cocktail in the bar, where Max will look after you - try his Aphrodite. The terrace outside is perfect for an après-ski.

Our luxury catered ski chalet Saskia has consistently been the most popular choice amongst our guests since it was built in 2000. Thanks to the combination of its picture-postcard location on the south facing, sundrenched slopes of Vaujany and its smart and stylish interior, it has become the our flagship. Chalet hosts Marcus and Rosa have built up a loyal following amongst our regulars over the years for their impeccable service, their knowledge of the area and above all Marcus's superlative cuisine. The unique mirror-image design of the chalet allows it to be used as a whole, taking advantage of all ten fully en-suite bedrooms. Alternatively, the chalet can be divided for smaller groups into two separate halves, each with their own lounge and dining areas sharing only the entrance hall plus the TV and games room. It can also be booked on a room by room basis.
Truth is we had the best of both ! I took my daughter to get her reacquainted with skiing after a break of nearly 20 years. I had been to Vaujany in 2013 when the Ski Peak owners had a hotel which, though modest, had wonderful cuisine. As Alpe d’Huez has lots of great runs (and gentle wide pistes for us ‘motorway skiers’) I got in touch with Jamie at Ski Peak and booked a couple of rooms at Chalet Saskia for a week. We flew to Grenoble and Ski Peak gave me contacts to book a bus from the airport. Just over an hour and the lovely Roxie picked us up to do the last five miles or so. The chalet has 10 bedrooms and can accommodate 25 or so. Great rooms with super views, all en suite, comfortable and spacious. It’s divided into two wings so we had one to ourselves while a party of 13 occupied the other. They and we had our own living/dining rooms with log burner and direct service from the kitchen. What was it like? The best description is to imagine some friends offered to let you use their house; ‘just come and go as you please’ and ‘our people will look after you......’. They did! Their new chef Matthew will get a Michelin star one day. The evening meals were a two (plus!) hour delight of the most enterprising cuisine, carefully chosen wines, a little explanation by Matt of what we were eating and how it was prepared. Served by Grace, Charlie, Kirsty and with appearances by Mikey, it was like being with friends for the evening. Being able to stream your own music was handy too. Incidentally breakfasts weren’t too shabby either with Matt happy to cook very interesting and different plates. His ‘full English’ was superb (Matt is part Greek, part Lancashire so he has the right genes!). And afternoon tea and cakes by the way.......! Roxie took us to see the ski hire guys. Very sensible prices and (though a busy Saturday) there was a special queue for Ski Peak customers..........! The main gondola is only a couple of hundred yards but no humping up steps required . Vaujany is fully equipped with lifts and escalators. All in all a great week. Three days of full sun. One day of blizzard when we just ‘slobbed out’ in the chalet. Definitely going back! Thanks again to Roxie for looking after admin and taking us back to the bus. Fabulous holiday and so easy to sort out odd details with the office in the UK. Utterly personal service.

The apartment was very clean, specious, perfectly equipped with a breathtaking view. All the staff members were speaking English and were extremely nice and helpful. Vaujany is situated just 2h drive from Lyon. You have the access to a huge ski resort.

We had a spacious and light apartment with amazing views of the mountains and down the valley. We had several meals (and evening drinks) on the fab balcony, enjoying the amazing views and surprisingly warm April sunshine. The apartment was well equipped and easily accessible from the underground car park - the trolley in the lobby made the task of unloading/loading the car pretty easy. Comfy beds and 'black out' curtains were a nice touch, but it would have been good to have a toaster (the microwave's grill function seemed to just warm stuff up!). The team at Reception were very welcoming and helpful - and very understanding of my pretty basic French! Top tip - book a ski locker next to the Telepherique to save carrying your kit up and down each day (although a series of lifts and escalators do make walking around Vaujany pretty easy). There's also a free horse and cart ride available from near the tourist information area which took us around the town which the kids loved. It was a shame the pool was not open during our visit (undisclosed technical issues apparently), but we were given tickets for two trips to the far larger, excellent main pool in the town which we used.

Self-catered Chalet La Maitreya is a place of peace. The place is all about honest, unpretentious authenticity and will offer a space to breathe where one can enjoy nature in her pure unspoiled state. This stylish and charming Alpine retreat offers you a highly individual place, that make a holiday remarkable.
We have just returned from the lovely Chalet La Maitraya after a fabulous week’s skiing in the Oz-Vaujany-Alpe D’huez area. The chalet is situated a few minutes down the valley from the Vaujany cable car and with the free minibus transfer offered to guests, we were quickly up the mountain and skiing each morning. James and Whitney were lovely hosts, and along with the help of Chloe, we were made very welcome. They couldn’t do enough for us and with their knowledge of the ski area they were able to offer advice or suggestions about the skiing. Our en suite room was spotlessly clean and with a lovely mountain view. We made daily use of the hot tub - perfect after a day’s skiing to help the legs recover - there was a small sauna too, and robes and extra towels were available. The food was superb: James is a very talented chef and together with Whitney they produced scrumptious cakes, delicious nibbles and exceptional 3 course dinners. Think fine dining but with great portion sizes, we were never hungry! James and Whitney have an arrangement with a local ski shop which meant we had great service, advice and help with our ski hire. We felt very well looked after all week and couldn’t recommend Chalet La Maitreya highly enough

High up from ski telepherique so long walk. Half term escalator was broke so climb 6 floors up to this accommodation in full ski kit with skis daily. They close the common lounge at 7 pm!!!! So it you want to relax no communal space. Noisy at night Be sure to get a cleaning company into your apartment. We left our spotless and they still took 70 euros off Avoid

Beautifully converted from an old Alpine farm house all four of its floors are well designed with maximum comfort in mind; whilst with original stone and wood on display, reminding you of its roots. Because of its two lounges, large dining area in a converted milk parlour and well distributed bedrooms you can really spread out. Rooms can accommodate from 1-4 persons. At full capacity there can be 17 people staying. It is a superb place for a summer holiday with activities ranging from hiking, climbing, mountain biking, river rafting and cycling to name a few - 15% of the worlds best cycling climbs are on your doorstep! During the winter it is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Alpe d'Huez and you can ski to within 5 minutes walk of the front door. Come and join us for a holiday you will forever remember.
We recently stayed in Chalet Rostaing and I have to say the experience was somewhat disappointing. A once stylish chalet is, in my opinion, now in dire need of some TLC. Upon arrival we had to switch on the water, gas, all electrical appliances and set up the terrace furniture and find the cushions too, not a good start. Whilst in the process of doing this we notice the general cleanliness was not up to an acceptable standard. Carpets were stained, floors were sticky, there was human hair (not ours) in the shower bases and the kitchen was dire! Washing up sponges that looked months old and smelt the same, the cooker was held together with masking tape and the work tops generally dirty. We were the first booking of the summer season, personally i would of expected the Chalet to be immaculately clean and well presented at the start of a season. We contacted the owners and it became clear that some of the staff responsible for the Chalet had not even arrived for the season themselves. Whilst their team did all they could/ all we asked of them to make up for the poor start I am a great believer in First Impressions. Whilst we had a comfortable stay, Peak Adventures never really made up the ground on the poor start! I would not recommend staying here.

My expectations of where we were going that put me down, probably. We were a group of 8 persons having booked 4 rooms. Only one couple got a room with a bedroom and the rest of us got tiny studios. As we stayed for a week, we found the room to be too small. You also had to pay extra to get towels. When we arrived, there were no soap, cleaning material, toilet paper so we had to go shopping early in the morning. We were there first week of January 2015 and fortunately, it was quite warm considering the season, but I would expect the studios to be pretty cold if there were normal winter also considering only blankets to cover during night. Though it all sounds bad it was not. Location was perfect. Short walk downhill to the lifts, 2 restaurants just outside the door, so our stay was not too bad. Knowing and understanding French is a great benefit, as the receptionist barley knew English.

Chalet Lucette has plenty of communal space with spacious dining/lounge area and shared use of a big garden. A professional, yet easy to use well-equipped kitchen makes dining 'at home' simple.
Chalet Lucette is comfortable for 8 but will take 11 and is one of three adjacent buidings which may be self catered or serviced by excellent professional chalet hosts from the four corners of the world. It is situated in Villette 1 Km above Vaujaney by minibus or a ten minute walk down to the mid station of the Villette gondola which runs 9-5pm.It is possible to ski back but you still have the ten minute walk uphill. There is heated secure ski and boot storage below restuarent Fare next to the gondola which is included in the price of the chalet. There is plenty of hot water and the beds are comfortable.Free wi fi is extensive throughout the chalet which has balconies and fine views down the valley. There are aperatifs and ample wine with dinner which never failed to impress with interest, taste, flair constructuion and often included a cheese course. We may well return although the resort has become too busy of recent years.
