Elies Resorts – named after the Greek word for olive tree - was created in Sifnos with the aspiration of becoming a point of reference both on a national and international level. Elies Resorts comprises of 33 dwellings, distinguished in three different types – Superior Rooms, Suites, Pool Villas – according to the number of people they can accommodate and their zone planning. Guests can choose the type that suits best their preferences and their needs, as all dwellings guarantee a high-standard accommodation with all comforts available.
I had high hopes for this hotel as it came highly recommended by a friend. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. This was my first trip to the Greek islands, I have stayed at many 5 star resorts and this was not a 5 star experience. I’d say it was comparable to a basic level Marriott hotel in the states. The property was quiet and appeared empty- we really only saw a handful of other guests on site/at the pool or beach which was nice. The room was spacious and clean, though lacked many basic amenities (such as a coffee machine and an iron). The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were flat- my husband and I did not get good sleep. The complementary breakfast was very basic and not very tasty. My husband and I were hoping to workout in the gym but the gym was dated and small, and the treadmill didn’t work. Our first day we wanted to lay on the beach and the lifeguard didn’t want to open the umbrella for us as he said it was “too windy” (though the umbrellas at the pool 20 feet away were all open). After asking again he obliged (we came for the beaches, not the pool!) The resort is tucked away in a beautiful bay but there are not many restaurants in walking distance. To get into town, it’s €20 each way which can get pricey if you are trying to go into town for lunch and or dinner daily. There are also only 9 taxi’s on the island so you have to request them in advance or you will be staying on the property the whole time. We ate lunch at the pool one day. The bartender Yannis was very friendly and nice but the food was not very good. We did have one very good meal at the restaurant on site our last night (the service there was also very good). Check was is at 11am, and we asked if we could have until 12pm (our ferry wasn’t until 3pm)- we were told no, that we could not check out late as they had guests checking in immediately (even though check in isn’t until 3pm)- I’ve never stayed somewhere that won’t give you one extra hour- especially on a week day; it felt bizarre and unaccommodating- especially considering how empty the resort felt. Overall 3 stars- would probably visit one of the more populated islands (like Mykonos or Santorini) as at this price point ($550/night) I expected more.

We booked through the site Booking.com 3 months before our stay and chose the option of paying at the hotel. They tried to get a deposit on the exact date my card expired (01/08) and unfortunately could not be charged. This is understandable and I could have entered my new card... BUT INSTEAD.. they simply cancelled by booking without notice. I was never informed by booking.com and never informed by the hotel itself. I happened to log into my account and saw that it was cancelled.. The worst thing was the indifference of the hotel staff when I called. When asked why they didn't inform me of the cancellation, they simply shrugged me off and said "You are booking.com's customer and not ours". Absolutely disgusting customer service and clearly all they want to do is make money from last minute bookings instead of honouring longer term bookings. I simply cannot believe and accept the fact that they wanted to "pass the ball" to booking.com (Who are at fault AS WELL for not informing me of the cancellation) instead of actually picking up the phone and telling their potential customer that there was an issue with payment.. Completely unprofessional approach and I will strive to convince all my acquaintances to avoid their stay here at all costs.

Well, in Vathi the most picturesque and peaceful spot of Sifnos Island and in an area of more than four acres with olive trees, the VILLA COSTA Studios are built in a gulf and are in a position to offer you relaxing holidays. All five studios and one apartment are surrounded by olive trees, endless veranda view and our blooming gardens. We are 350 meters or 5 minutes walking distance from the secluded Vathi beach with the Taverns and shops. All studios were built with traditional Cycladic architecture style, our fully furnished studios in different levels are decorated with colorful blooming voukamvilia and spacious - seaview verandas. We have gardens with lemon-orange trees, olive trees and flowers. Our verandas have endless sea view overlooking the Vathi gulf
Villa Costa Studios was simply perfect from start to the end of our stay .Sandy from a warm welcome, even though we arrived almost midnight ,till our departure was supportive and gave daily attention. Sandy was helpful with information and organizing the best possible way our five night stay. Our studio with a small private veranda , was so quiet that we wanted either chill out or sleep for hours. We had sea view of the bay and in a five minute accessible walk we were in the buzzy and crowded village. Our room was great thanks to every kitchen and room amenity for cooking breakfast and dinners while dinning out on the veranda. We were also able to work as WiFi was really high speed !The only drawback is that we had two single beds rather that a double bed. We will be back soon!

Perfect view, standing alone in a hill. Large balconies, rooms with all comforts, free parking and helpful staff. Weak wi-fi. Vehicle is necessary. Very shiny in the morning, much better in the afternoon. Every Sunday soup with local cheese is served free. Worth its price.

Judging by the number of people returning year after year, Giannis and Maria have found a winning formula. Giannis is the perfect host; attentive, amusing and philosophical. The location is perfect, right on the beach and the property is well maintained and has everything one needs to relax. A great find and our only regret is that our holiday was too short!

vathi beach: laid back, unprecious, not instagram-driven spot on the island. and studio anna matches this perfect. it's a simple but very clean accommodation in a beautiful bay, run by a lovely, courteous family. coming from the ferry, park your car (or take a taxi) and walk to the beach. a few meters to the left you will find studio anna. Here you will be greeted in a friendly, courteous, helpful and familiar manner, you immediately feel like home. the rooms are simple but clean and have everything you need. There is an in-house mini kiosk and right next door the best restaurant along the beach ("manolis", at least at this point, when we were there ;)) – even though in vathi everything is within easy walking distance anyway. if you want to be lazy and just let your soul dangle, this bay is the perfect place for you.
