Umeå nya Kulturhus invigdes hösten 2014 och tar upp ett helt kvarter mellan Storgatan och älven. Nere vid vattnet håller fiket Fika! till med så modern inredning att golvet består av rå betong. Här serveras smörgåsar, kaffe och godbitar. Ambitionerna är höga, smörgåsarna intrikata och gjorda med rejält och hårdtuggat bröd. En enkel kanelbulle kostar 27 kr. Lite snobbigt alltså, men läget är utmärkt och utemöblerna förstås klassiska.

Väldigt trevlig liten lokal med familjär och personlig service. Alltid dagsfärskt bröd och otroligt goda räkmackor.Har gratis parkering och uteservering på sommaren.

à ker alltid hit när det är dags att köpa semlor, godaste i Umeå enligt mitt tycke. Smörgåsarna, både varma och kalla, är både stora och goda. Kan även rekommendera deras smörgåstårta. Trevlig och tjänstvillig personal. Fiket är renoverat för ett tag sedan, bara WC:et är värt ett besök!!

First of all, the menu in this restaurant is limited to three choises of starter, main course and desert. One with fish, one with meat and one vegetarian. The deserts are all vegetarian, though, but mainly chocolate. The food was good, but not spectacular. Rather small portions, seen to the price. The winelist was a laugh, as you could order wine by the glass after colour : red, white or pink. No further description. We wanted to order a bottle of red wine and asked the staff for guidance. All she could tell us was that all the wines came from the Rhone valley and two were ecological and one was a wine made from organically grown grapes. We asked to taste the wines, and discovered three very different types of tastes. Our waitress could not recommend what wine suited the food best, but pointed out, several times, that all food was organic. That lack of knowledge + the somewhat off-side location of the restaurant is the reason for my grading.

I met up with some colleagues here to go over our plans for the next days. They have great spacious tables for larger groups to sit and work at. Nice atmosphere as well. The fika selection is great! As a lactose-intolerant person I am always over the moon when I can get a nice slice of cake. The mudcake was amazing!

I dined at the Rex on a business trip and I am very impressed with the level of service, cuisine and environment. Very friendly and nice environment, good service and the food is really tasty. The restaurant is not so easy to find as it part of the main shopping mall and faces out onto the precinct. But the food was good and very reasonable price. Very busy with people going in there to eat after work, but don't let that put you off - share a table.
