Reviewed By listeningwiththebodyIf you like the combination of excellent food, beautifully designed rooms, amazing thermal baths and spa and beautiful nature, then this is the hotel for you. I taught a yoga retreat here and the yoga/conference room is simply spectacular.

Excellent thermal baths. Too small room
Reviewed By Fernando CFantastic experience in the therme baths, hosted on the 7132 House of Architects Hotel. The possibility to get a bath at 7,30 h in the morning with the cloud covering the valley and the hot water of the outside pool is quite an experience. Plus, the chance to use the baths by midnight on wednesday and friday was a different wat to live that joy. Unfortunatelly, the room of the "House of Architects" hotel, designed by Thom Mayne (wood version) is, as all the rest of the plan, too narrow. It is a shame, because the design is beautiful.

Reviewed By jurek_chWe stayed there during the silvester / new year 2021 and it was lovely. nice, quiet room with a nice design and a cosy bed. our friends had an apt so we could have a covid save dinner outside and had a few good bottles of wine and champagne for new year. the breakfast is a highlight and the personal is very friendly and flexible.

Privately owned and run hotel directly at the historic village square of Vals in the middle of the Swiss Alps.The Hotel has been designed by the local architect Gion A. Caminada and offers 20 guest rooms, made out of natural material such as wood from the valley and stone from the local quarry. Furniture crafted by local craftsmen.Restaurant on the first floor overlooking the picturesque village square – styled with a discreet, sophisticated appeal.Our kitchens provide wholesome, market fresh, creative cuisine.The world famous Therme Vals - SPA by Peter Zumthor is only a 5-7 minutes walk away from the hotel.In summer and autumn - hiking options galore. Price gauging. Tap water warning!
Reviewed By FriendofganeshWe went there for dinner. I was ready to give this restaurant a 4 or 5 star rating. The food was good, the service pleasant, the ambience casual and relaxing. Then came the bill. The bill included a charge of CHF 5 ($5) for a carafe of tap water. I disputed this charge and discussed this with the owner of the hotel. He refused to remove the charge, I paid the bill. In Geneva, where I live, I have never been charged for tap water. In fact some restaurants go out of their way to enhance the dining experience by serving free tap water enhanced with lemon or mint. Free tap water is a customer service that is common to restaurants throughout Switzerland. There is no federal or cantonal law stipulating whether a restaurant can charge for tap water. But it is extremely rare for a restaurant to make such a charge. The meal was not cheap (all prices in this valley seem high). And for the record, we also had wine with the meal and ordered dessert and coffee. GastroSuisse, a Swiss national federation of hoteliers and restauranteurs with some 20,000 members, advises that when a restaurant charges for tap water that price has to be clearly marked on the menu. I do not know if that was the case with Hotel Alpina Vals. In a 2016 survey, GastroSuisse found that 94.3% of all respondents paid nothing for tap water. The vast majority (about 90%) of those who paid for tap water paid a price under 3 francs. So, in summary: Good food. Price gauging leaving an unpleasant taste. Caveat emptor.

cozy place
Reviewed By oliweraaras we had a reservation for the restaurant silver but could only stay one night (the other hotels had a multiple nights minimum policy) we luckily found this cozy hotel with nicely renovated and furbished rooms. breakfast was nice and familiar, too.

Reviewed By marco_urbsSmall family-run restaurant (at least it seems so), with a reduced menu, but all based on the products of this area, a small wine list, but enough to accompany the food. But it is above all the service, very friendly and kind, that makes this small restaurant deserve the highest score. Go there with peace of mind, knowing that you will be well received and well served!

Friendly, modern and Swiss - Just the way it should be
Reviewed By Pcross67I surprised my girlfriend by proposing up in the Vals valley, and we spent a truly romantic and memorable weekend at Hotel Steinbock. We were upgraded to a valley view, and the staff went out of their way to make our weekend especially romantic, serving us coffee in the hot tub in the morning and making a wonderful dinner of venison with marinated fruits and traditional spaetzle noodles for us, paired with a lovely local Canton wine. The beds were gigantic and comfortable, modern with a touch of alpine tradition. Our go to place in Vals for when we return.
