Over the years devoted to growing camellia plants, we have had the privilege to admire their beauty and share their oozing peace, nobility and elegance. Not wanting to keep this experience for ourselves, we have opened the doors of a house where we want to share it with you, where you will also find the best of our region: the country’s serenity, the freshness of the sea, a bursting natural landscape and an old-fashion gastronomy.
Stayed here recently and, while the property has been well finished, there is something missing in the overall atmosphere. The staff are very friendly but the sharp finishes to the rooms are a little bit cold. It is also a bit over priced for where it is, there is nothing else in close proximity.

Stayed there last night. There is a bar down the street that we heard noise from until around 3 am. Somehow people got in the hotel and made a lot of noise too. Someone slammed furniture in front of our room in the middle of the night. The hotel should have better security to keep this from happening. I don’t recommend it at all. In retrospect, I should have called the police.

Liked · Lovely welcoming staff, no English spoken but it really didn’t matter. Wonderful authentic food of the regions served for the Menu del Dias which was very filling, delicious and excellent value! The waitress was pleasant and very helpful. We will certainly come and stay again. This is part of the Camino de Santiago route, so there are pilgrims coming and going who are really interesting to talk to. When it comes to pets, there are lovely walks for the dog through the woods and down to a secluded little beach. We were charged 15 € for our dog which was a bit more than we were expecting, but for us, it was still worth it. Wifi was fast and free! A real gem of a stay! Thank you for having us!

Mistake made was only booking 1 night en route to the Picos. The welcome received was like that of the prodigal son, a drink was provided and Mumma was long be phone other daughter who understood English quite well. The apartment was clean and well equipped secure parking for the car in this really rural area. We requested evening meal and it was adequate and typical food of the region and greatly appreciated. This was served as was breakfast in the bar/ grocery area and frequented by locals in the evening playing cards and in the morning a quick visit gift the uplifting small coffee. So nice to observe-and be observed by- the locals going about their normal lives, swill not see that in a 5star paradore or Hotel. The area was quiet and we slept VERY well. Thankyou to the folk of Setienes and the owners we wish you well and hope we will be able to return..........the 4 Australians. BE SURE TO GET CO ORDINATES TO MAKE LIFE A LITTLE EASIER, our gps did not have recent road upgrades. The co ordinates should be in degrees and minutes not decimal

We stayed one night and it was exactly as expected- clean and functional. We weren't bothered about the decor but the bathroom was modernish and it had a small flat screen where you can change audio to voice original non-spanish shows. It was quiet even though it was on a plaza- we were in a back room. Location is great as it is right in the town centre. We took the train there so you just have walk down hill about 20 minutes (we had a big suitcase). We walked back up it when we left- a gradual climb.

Positives: 1) Location - great for photographers who want to explore the local beaches such as Campiecho, Gueirua and Silencio. 2) Staff were very friendly and helpful, even though they didn't speak good English. 3) Free parking. 4) Good selection of food in the restaurant for breakfast - basic breakfast cost 4.50 euro. 5) Free parking. 6) Free WiFi access. 7) Bathroom was spacious and free toiletries were provided. Negatives: 1) There was no fridge in the room. 2) No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. 3) WiFi was VERY slow. 4) Breakfast was not included in the room price. 5) Blankets on the bed had a musky smell, as if they haven't been washed for a while. 6) Double room with a sea view was a little small and there wasn't much sea to be seen ;)) 7) No A/C in the room - luckily it wasn't required during our stay. 8) The wooden construction carried noises from other rooms across the building.

Good value hotel in secluded spot. Helpful and friendly manager. Good value and quite substantial continental breakfast. Too far to travel to Luarca on foot so manager called for Pizzas and beers to be delivered to us for evening meal. Very relaxing stay.

Their website suggests that a meal at Casa Consuela is a gastronomic delight not to be missed if travelling in northern Spain. Perhaps one should not judge on a sample of one experience, but here it is: The restaurant is in a 1970's time-warp, and not in a good way. The restaurant does not upon until 21:00. Before then the only option is to wait in a 'transport cafe' type bar full of old blokes watching football on the telly. Staff are indifferent. Service is very poor. With the exception of a barely acceptable steak, the food was dreadful. For example, a €9 starter 'special asparagus' was anaemic tinned asparagus served cold with mayo from a jar. The 'Russian Salad' was even less appealing!! Total price for a two course meal for two was €90 so was not only by far the worst meal we had in Spain it was also the most expensive. And it left my companion with an upset tummy all through the night and most of the next day. How Casa Consuela got their claimed reputation, I will leave you to work out. The hotel building was more acceptable value for money, but nothing special. I'd describe it as 'tired travel lodge'. Nice artwork on the walls, but that isn't really why you choose a hotel. The advertised wifi did not work, and the place stank of stale tobacco. Casa Consuelo is situated right on the main road, although set back behind a huge car park. It is very easy to find, by why would you want to? In short: dreadful. Very glad we only stayed the one night.
