Bessheim is situated 970 meters above the sea-level in Jotunheimen in Norway, run by the cousins Kari and Ragnhild since 2005. The season is from about February 1 – October 1 every year. Bessheim is a mountain hotel and we do hire out hotel rooms, cabins, apartments and a campground. In the hotel rooms in the main building it is shower, toilet and sheets on the beds. The cabins and apartments are situated just beside of the main building, and it is 2-10 beds in each of them. It is kitchen, shower and toilet in almost all of them. In the restaurant we do serve breakfast buffet every morning, you may choose from an a la carte menu in the day time and in the afternoon we offer a good three course dinner. We make traditional Norwegian food, and we like to prepare for example mountain trout and reindeer from Jotunheimen. The main attraction in the area is to hike over the famous Besseggen Ridge, and it is 7-8 minutes driving to the ferry which takes you in to Besseggen and the national park Jotunheimen.
We stayed here for 3 nights in 1 hotel room (the cabins were booked full, so I can't comment on them). We choose 3 nights because that allowed us to choose between 2 days to hike Besseggen Ridge. We are glad we did because we arrived and our 1st day was rainy and foggy. The 2nd day was perfect with morning clouds and then sunny. Anyway - back to the lodge. We enjoyed the basic hotel room that had large bathroom and my wife says the shower was fabulous with excellent water pressure. The beds were 2 twins pushed together, but comfortable. The included breakfast started at 06:30 but we grabbed some items before we left for the hike at 6:05/10. We didn't eat at the restaurant as it was expensive. We had a cooler (which the front desk refrigerated for us). The wifi is only available near reception and didn't reach our room, but we chose not to get a data plan during our Norway holiday. But the only reason to choose this lodge would be the location - right around the corner to the Besseggen trail head. If you don't want to camp before of after Besseggen, this lodge is simple, yet perfect.

Lemonsjoe Mountain Lodge is well known for its Norwegian kitchen. We offer accommodation; 10 independent cabins and 4 rooms in the main building. The Lemonsjoe area is perfect for summer activities like traditional hiking, close to the famous Besseggen, possibilities for biking and fishing. The winter offers great cross country tracks and downhill slopes.
We arrived for check in just before 8pm after a long day of driving, and even though the kitchen closed at 8 they waited for us to unload the car and then served us dinner, which was really very much appreciated. The cabin was nice and spacious, there's no tv or wifi within the cabin which wasn't important for us but I'm sure it would be for some. I was a little disappointed that there was a road between the cabin and the lake; "lake view" created something in my mind, but the road isn't busy and is well covered by trees so I bearly actually noticed it during the 4 night stay. Super helpful family ran business in a nice location, with comfortable accommodation, would recommend :)

The staff were so kind and helpful, and did all to make you feel at home. It is in the centre of "town" in a small junction, but we were not disturbed at night. The hotell has a nice interior, and several parking places. It has a cosy interior and a nice restaurant with a fireplace. We had dinner her, and the food was very good, colourful and tasty. The room was very nice, with a good bathroom and TV. We had a lot of luggage (travel by MC) and unfortunately we got the room furthest away from the reception, but it was quite affordable.

Location was more than ok. Clean and spacious room with a nice kitchen and bunk beds. Only the doors miss some heights (so hold your head low :-)). We had a great stay although I still believe if they had position the houses better everyone could have lake views. Nevertheless I recommend it for a stopover for one or more days!

Gjendesheim Turisthytte (tourist lodge) located in Vaga close to the Jotunheimen National Park and Besseggen, offers 170 beds devided on rooms with 2 or 4 beds, or dormitories. Simple standard, some bunks. The main building: Rooms with 4 beds and hot and cold water. Showers and W.C. in the hall. The annex: Double and single rooms without water. Showers and W.C. in the hall. A sauna. 70 beds in 4 dormitories with no sanitary installations.
This is a pretty typical DNT hut. It is old and simple. The staff is really nice and helpful. The rooms are old and could need some paint. It is not much sound insulation between the rooms. We were unlucky and got a noicy neighbor that kept us awake in the midle of the night. The food in the resturant is very good. The cost for the stay and food feels a bit expensive. But it is standard cost on the DNT huts.

Koseleg lafta hytte på eit vakkert gardstun utanfor Vågå. Me lengde Smiu ei helg i september og hadde eit kjempe fint opphald her. Varmt og godt med vedfyring på kvelden og kaffi på tunet om morgon. Hytta var rein og hadde alt me trengte av kjøkkenutstyr. Hit kjem me nok fleire gonger.

Besseggen Fjellpark Maurvangen is built in local, traditional style. There are 26 cabins, wll put up in the birch forest belt. Besseggen Fjellpark in Vaga offers perfect possibilities for overnight stops for those who want to combinate peace and silence, untouched nature and exciting adventures. Here you have every possibilities for day trips in Jotunheimen, fishing in the mountain lakes, rafting in the river of Sjoa etc. The mountain park is located about 2 kilometres from Gjende and Besseggen.
You pay for nothing and everything is left to chance. The terrain for tent+car is uneven, bumpy, cars park everywhere without a direction on where to stay. Toilets are smelly, there is barely the space to move around, and not a single hook/coat henger around, so you have to put your stuff on the dirty floor. It's ridicolous. In time of Coronavirus, there is no soap, and the hand dryers blow cold air (in spite of being 5-10 degrees outside). There is a common kitchen which is way too small, dirty and old. The sofas there are old and dirty. The owner collects money and that's it, you don't get any information and have to ask about facilities etc like if it's an interrogation. The wifi in the cafeteria is very weak, you have to stand in the reception area... It's a real pity, as it's one of the few campings available in the wonderful Gjende area, and the location is stunning.
