Four of us ate at Oasis Outback for dinner. We all had the salad bar with an added baked potato. Salad bar was stocked with all sorts of fresh veggies and a whole bunch of stuff to put on 'em. If I remember correctly the salad bar (with unlimited trips) was $8.95 (less $1 for seniors) which paid for our added baked potato. This was our first time there and we were really pleased. I highly recommend this eatery.

This is the "home run" bakery in the small town of Uvalde. They offer a wide variety of cakes and have an ample selection of cookies, tarts and turnovers. If your in need of a sugar fix, this is the place to stop.

We were in town for work and found this neat little place! It's in the back corner of the Vintage Market. It's open from 11-2. Soups and sandwiches are what's on the menu here and you just can't go wrong. The poblano soup tasted so good, I wanted to bathe in it (lol)! I had the chicken salad sandwich and my coworker had the pimento cheese sandwich. We both loved our meals. It's not a fancy place but it's cute and the service was great! One more thing, try the bread pudding! I will definitely be back!

The food is excellent, wait times could improve and cleanliness could be better... Gets crowded at lunch time .....

Stopped in here around 11am Sunday and the place was empty. Maybe it was because this isn't the easiest place to find and signage is non existent! The search was worth it though! Cute throw-back décor throughout - diner-type atmosphere. Interesting menu book that provides history of the air field and its ties to WWII and training pilots for the Army Air Corps. Reasonable prices. Where else can you get a burger with $100 of jet fuel?
Our waiter, Brandon, was very friendly, attentive and provided excellent service. He was a bit confused if I could order lunch at 11am, but he quickly ran down the answer - yes - lunch could be ordered, so I selected the special of the day...homemade tomato basil soup (supposedly was a cup, but it was more like a bowl) and a Turkey melt sandwich. YUMMMMMMM! Both were very good.
Hubby ordered breakfast - waffle, scramble eggs and bacon. All were prepared exactly the way he requested - crispy waffle, soft scrambled eggs and crispy bacon!

Went on recommendation from a local and they serve BBQ and Tex Mex as well. Inside was some what rustic, but large and clean. Ordered the enchilada plate and was hot and tasty when served. The salsa was very good, but the chips were very greasy. The waitress was very good and friendly throughout the meal. Tried the coconut cream pie which was homemade by the owner and was good as well. I would give them another try when back in Uvalde.

This place may not look like much but it is totally worth a side trip. Their specialty is gorditas, a stuffed corn tortilla. This is not a taco, the tortilla is lightly fried so that it puffs (like pita bread) and is then split and stuffed with awesome goodness. My favorite is the carne guisada. They have been featured in Southern Living and on the Food Channel. DO NOT MISS THIS. They currently are open Tues - Friday for lunch.

Enchiladas are delicious. Chips with the dipping sauce that they bring you while you wait on your meal are good. Employees there are very helpful. They never fail if someone needs attention. Pricing is fair. I come here for both lunch & breakfast, Tacos & hamburgers are good, they're pancakes are good too. & if you can beat the crowds there is a good place to park out of the sun in the hot summer time. Definitely my type of place. Large flat screen TV, comfortable booths by the windows. I spend about an hour to 45 minutes in here when I come to eat. Being always on the go its not easy to make that kind of time. But I manage somehow I manage. I recommend this place to locals, tourists, people who are just passing through to wherever. It is the perfect place to break for lunch during work days or on your day off. Whether its breakfast, Lunch or dinner your having, its a very good choice of a place. Good for anyone who likes Mexican food. I can't argue right there.
Love this place.

I splurged and ordered the Filet, medium rare. That's exactly how it was cooked (which is often not the case in many places). Very juicy, tender, and delicious! One of the best filets I've had ANYWHERE! Definitely worth every penny of the cost...
I was with a group of about 8, all carnivores. Everybody had some kind of meat--steak or sausage. Everyone was pleased except the person who ordered the ribeye. Didn't like it at all, said it was a strange-looking, strange-tasting cut, not like expected.
Sides and salads were good, too, and so were the deserts. Excellent, excellent service, especially for a group of 8 who showed up unexpected, and kinda late in the evening, too. Several waitresses hovered around, bringing drinks and food. They even gave us our own side room.
I don't know if this is the best restaurant in Uvalde, but if I was having dinner in town again, this is where I'd go for sure. (Btw, Jack's was recommended by the person behind the counter at America's Best Value Inn--kudos to her...)

Whataburger is always a great choice on a long trip. Always clean. Consistently great food. Super hamburgers, fried pies, and great milkshakes and malts. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.
