Chose here to enjoy a treat and a nice birthday lunch. Not so busy and we were seated quickly, so we got our drinks real fast. The service was good, the meal was ok, slightly wilted Ceasars Salad but the Cajun Chicken Pasta was excellent along with the Salmon. Our Brownie ala mode hit the spot. Thanks Red Lobster for it mostly being good.

Chuck-a-Rama

We arrived at Chuck-a-Rama around 7:00 PM on this Monday night and the restaurant was not busy. My initial impression of Chuck-a-Rama was that it was clean. There were 7 buffet stations including the following: • Salad station - romaine, mixed greens, spinach and lots of fixings • Separate station with pasta salads including potato salad and coleslaw • Separate sundae station with soft serve ice cream • Dessert station with tarts and cakes • Carving station with ham, turkey and roast beef • Chicken dishes with sidesI don’t recall seeing any casserole type dishes such as a stir fry or a stew.I tried the following: • Cream of spinach soup - a bit salty • Broccoli salad - good • Cole slaw - average • Macaroni salad - average • Bean salad - good • Potato salad - average • Fried shrimp – above average • Coconut shrimp – above average • Mac and cheese - bland • Stuffing and cranberry sauce - okay • Fried chicken - above average • Mashed potatoes needs more seasoning but okay • Apple crisp and vanilla soft serve • Lime and orange jellySome of the other dishes that were available: • Baked chicken • Chicken fried steak • Biscuits and gravy • Roasted butternut squash • Beef and barley soupRatings breakdown • Price vis-à-vis portion size – very good for all you can eat and even better if you’re a senior. Non-alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are included. Dinner was $14.99 and seniors price was $12.74, a 15% discount. Children’s prices were $1.15 per year from ages 4 to 12. • Quality and taste – Mostly average tasting food. The people in our group commented on the fresh salad selection with all the fixings. • Service – self serve. Dishes were cleared in a timely manner. • Cleanliness - goodThe Chuck-a-Rama was a nice recommendation from a friend. Overall, I would rate the food experience as above average at 3.5+ out of 5. The restaurant is worth a visit.Notes and Tips: • Depending on the day of the week, there are special ethnic days such as Italian and Mexican. • Monday was International Day. International menu items included the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and butterfly shrimp. • This restaurant is located in a strip mall • Credit cards accepted • Lots of mall parking • Chuck-a-Rama is a local restaurant chain with more than 10 restaurants in Utah and Idaho • Check website for additional information • Across the street from Chuck-a-Rama is a very small outlet mall - The Outlets at Zion location. This outlet has an Eddie Bauer. • We stayed at an AirBnB in La Verkin.. It is a 20 mile drive to the St. George Chuck-a-Rama • La Verkin is also a 20 mile drive from Zion National Park • In Moab and Page, Arizona we stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotels. See my reviews. The burger was good and the endless fries filled me up. The values was very good and I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. The best part was the prompt personal attention of the server. She was friendly, polite, very efficient and actually took time to converse. Well worth the larger than normal tip.

Had fish and chips in the bar. The fish was like the stamped out version of fish , one might find in the Walnart frozen food department. The chips were literally, potato chips. First time in my 68 years that chips were not french fries. The beer and service kept me from giving this experience a 1 star review.

We absolutely love The Painted Pony! Every time we’re in town (which is fairly often since my parents live in the area), we always come here for their well-above-average fine dining experience. The decor is charming, comfortable and a little unusual, but in a good way. And the service, oh my gosh, the service is always top notch! Never ceases to impress us just how attentive, polite, and well-trained the entire staff is: hostess, bus boys, servers - it doesn’t matter who, they are all wonderful. And truly, we have never had a bad (or even average meal) - they’ve all been truly great! I really don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order, it’s all so good. We had an amazing seasonal heirloom tomatoes salad there last, as well as the mussels and bacon wrapped dates for apps. All mouth-watering good! It’s an amazing restaurant worth the visit! Your stomach won’t regret it!

Went to take our family to eat there after a movie tonight. We arrived at 8:30 pm, and the sign on the door said closed at 9 pm. Yet door was locked as we saw everyone inside. Such a shame when we heard such good things. IHOP it was... and they said they’d never do such a thing! Is it just me, or is that a strange thing to do.... especially on Black Friday!!?? Oh well... back to Northern Utah tomorrow!

Texas Roadhouse

Legendary Food, Legendary Service

Reviewed By Shaka_Frank

As far as chain, everyday "steakhouses" go, this Texas Roadhouse is among the better ones, as evidenced by the dinner crowds. Yeah, it's a touristy town but there sure were a lot of locals. The best things on the menu are the steaks and ribs. The sides seem to be really good or not so good, depending on the choices. But, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. I see some complaints about service, but after two dinner visits under crowded conditions, I'd say our servers did pretty well. On different nights I had sirloin and New York steaks. Both were cooked the way I ordered and were very good (not Ruth's Chris good, of course), especially for someone that doesn't get much enjoyment from pricier steaks. I poached some of my wife's ribs, so I'll vouch for them, too. I liked the baked potato but disliked the burnt tasting sauted mushrooms. The corn and broccoli were good as well. It's a busy, noisy place, so a quiet, romantic dinner is probably not on the menu.
