We ate (and stayed) here on our first night in Africa, and what a great welcome that was. We stayed in the guest cottages across the road, which were comfortable and clean.
Our dinner was exceptional, a tasting menu effectively with wines matching, and very good value too. Certainly exceeded our expectations for our arrival night. Breakfast the following morning was freshly cooked to order, and delicious, as was our packed lunch for safari.

The Rivertrees restaurant specialises in gourmet country cuisine, using old family recipes and ingredients straight from the garden to serve tasty meals that make the most of its scenic surrounds. Dining al fresco under the shade of tall trees, by candlelight next to the fireplace, or with a view over the water on the river deck, each dining experience offers the occasion to enjoy the natural ambiance of its setting.
Ok, not the best pizza - but pretty good, we went here with 20 kids from the Children's home we support for educational reasons and the place was extremely accommodating and the other guests seemed to enjoy the sudden influx of fairly well behaved kids. Wine was ok and the waiters were excellent and helpful.
Would consider staying here next time.

We discovered this restaurant thanks to some friend in Arusha. The Themi living garden offer for lunch a vegetarian meal very healthy and delicious in a beautiful and peaceful location. This eco-reataurant is part of an important social project, from "istituto Oykos", that aims at improving the quality of local street food while empowering tanzanian womens through business and social inclusion. The food is so nice and the prices are amazing! totally recommended !
Join the "Eat Wild" experience: the first eco-restaurant in Tanzania, born from a social and women-led Enterprise! "Eat Wild" is a licensed restaurant located in the Themi Living Garden and itself is part of the SAFE Gardens project (don't miss Note n.1!). Our aim is to improve the quality of local street food while empowering Tanzanian women through business engagement and social inclusion.
Authentic Swahili food served in a beautiful garden.
