A must in Ljubljana. Enjoyed a fantastic breakfast, but you must confirm they are still serving breakfast these days. Dear HempColonel, thanks for finishing your review, we are honoured that you have kept our Monstera bistro in such great memory! As for serving breakfast, we stopped 3 years ago. Namely our lunch service expanded and we start serving at 11.30 already. So, for breakfast in Ljubljana, there are several tasty options elsewhere, for lunch you are welcome from 11.30 until 16.00 (last possible arrival) from Monday to Saturday. We came to this restaurant situated in the castle for dinner. For starters, there are a beautiful views of Ljubljana below. We opted for the five course tasting menu (â¬56) and were blown away by the food. Courses were small, creative, absolutely delicious and attractively presented. We also had the optional wine pairing which included five exceptional Slovenian wines. We highly recommend this restaurant! Best food we had in 14 days in Slovenia and Croatia.

Ever changing menu, local produce, natural wine list and owners behind the stoves. Warmly welcome. Luka & Urska & Simon
The three of us enjoyed sharing a range of dishes from the dinner menu. All were very good, but I thought the prawn, parmesan and pasta the best I have eaten, while my partner raved about the cherry tomato with tonnato. Expect some interesting flavour combinations (raspberries and boquerones, anyone?) which work much better than you'd expect. Service was friendly, and the price very reasonable. The only area for improvement I think would be in the wine selection. At present it is restricted to organic wines, which to my taste aren't the best on offer in Slovenia.

Apart from fun regional Slovenian wines there are numerous dishes to choose from to accompany the wine.Had a lunch then the following day a dinner and even though the wait staff were completely different the quality remained excellent. 110euros for 4 for dinner seemed good value. And you can sit so near the river too.

We decided to eat here having failed to get a table in our chosen restaurant. From the beginning our waiter, and it was only him, was at best unfriendly and unhelpful. We chose a bottle of wine which turned out to be unavailable, but for a few euros more we could have another. When pressed he wouldn't commit on price, but a bottle duly arrived (we didn't ask for it), with a more friendly waiter. Whilst he was pouring, the unfriendly one passed by, saying it was the same price. When it came to ordering food my wife asked if she could stop her potatoes for fries (they were a side dish anyway), only to be told that chef had visualized the dish that way, so take it or leave it basically. So, we then all ordered a burger, 3 cooked the same, 1 not. Some had garnish removed. When they finally arrived, they were at best tepid, and not one of us got what we ordered. Was it worth complaining? Not really, as we wouldn't return anyway. It's your call if you want to eat there, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it!
