Wonderful setting overlooking Lake Mondsee. Owners were so very gracious. We stopped here for coffee and dessert during our morning tour and it was one of the highlights of our day. All kinds of beautiful homemade pastries. We enjoyed our strudel (best we had in Austria) on the balcony with such an incredible view on a beautiful day. Made for a wonderful memory of our trip through Austria!

The minute we walked in we were greeted with a very warm welcome and were shown to a table of our choice. The lady who took our orders was extremely helpful with explaining what words we didn't understand on the menu as our Austrian isn't very good. She then brought us our drinks and we could hear our order being freshly prepared and cooked in the kitchen behind the bar. When it arrived we were very impressed with the way it looked and smelled, it was gorgeous. The food was cooked to perfection in every way and was really tasty and melted in your mouth. Soon after we ordered desert which was altered for my wife's preferences because she doesn't like nuts. We can't say enough for this restaurant as it was just so nice and the food so perfect. We just recommend it to you all who pass it by.

Great Austrian tavern with lots of wood and game heads mounted on the walls. The waitress was very helpful though she spoke little English. There are booths in the bar area and a large dining room area. Traditional Austrian dishes (Wiener schnitzel and goulash), delicious venison dishes and savory barbecue specialties. We ordered Zanderfilet and Kräuter-Cordon-Bleu and both was excellent. Will be coming back.

Arrived by boat from St Gilgen just as the rain stopped so had a good look around the village before settling on here for lunch as it was nicely set next to the lake. Had had a big breakfast at the Furberg so was only after a light lunch. Ordered the French onion soup that was fine and hot and quickly served. Certainly a variation on French onion soup but very tasty none the less. Couple of beers waiting for the boat. Well recommended as the menu was extensive.

We have been coming to Strobl for 15 years and the kirchenwirt is the best. The food is always great, fantastic service with a smile and nothing is ever too much trouble for Maria and her team! Book a table at busy times. Can't recommend enough!

We only called in here on a rainy day because we had been told they served the best Applestrudle in town. What we had been told was completely correct, a delight stuffed full of tasty apple, spices and raisins, in light flaky pastry, served with a generous portion of cream. Delicious indulgence!

We stopped here on our first evening in Steinbach, but only had a light snack since we had already eaten. The cheese plate we ordered was nicely varied, and had interesting garnishes. The bread served with it was homemade and delicious. It was fairly crowded in the garden, and the tables are large, so it is common to sit at a table with other people. Fortunately the two women at our table were friendly. Judging by what other guests were eating, the food looked very good. The only negative point for us is that we would have preferred to drink wine with our snack, but they serve only "Most" (types of fresh fruit juice).

Charming, traditional gasthof; a bit south of the town of Mondsee, a bit back from the Lake. Very professional, yet friendly, service. Our selections were all delicious: soup starters (a garlic-cream; and the "pancake" soup (pfannkuchensuppe?)); 2 mains with risotto, 1 fish; 1 chicken breast. With wine and dessert, cost was around E60; a good value for the quality.
