We sat down in the restaurant and the waiter could have been more welcoming. He redeemed himself during the meal! We had a turkey salad, Greek salad and two hamburgers with fried egg and French fries. The men pronounced it very tasty. My Greek salad was light on the lettuce and heavy on the feta cheese and olives in a good dressing. The mixed bread basket was very fresh. I don't eat meat and whilst they offered vegetarian options I preferred the Greek salad. The toilets are clean. The views across the lake are good

We came here with my family of six people after a very nice day on the lake to have some coffee and ice cream, as this establishment has wonderful views of the lake from their patio. Most of our party ordered various desserts and drinks which turned out to be fine if not pretty mediocre. My wife and I ordered two chocolate milks with vanilla ice cream scoops. The drinks came and I had a first big drink- the milk was TOTALLY ROTTEN AND SPOILED. My wife's tasted only slightly off and sour, mine however was utterly rancid and even smelled powerfully. This would normally be no problem, sometimes even at the best places milk can go off quite quickly. You just order another one with fresh milk. But this isn't what happened. The chef, or whoever the person is who slings drinks here, came out and shouted at me and my wife that we were wrong and the milk was totally fresh, as if we were stupid children that were lying or could not tell the difference. He dressed us down thoroughly and made a complete red faced fool of himself. He screamed that it was "ABSOLUTELY FRESH AND I TASTED IT!" never taking a moment or a breath to hear what we had to say. This is an honest account, and I'm very sad to report it. I would have been fine with fresh milk, but shouting at customers instead of offering an apology is absolutely bizarre and mean spirited. It's just bad business. We just wanted a nice day at the lake, but instead we were shouted at for politely sending back spoiled milk. We will never come here again.

Food was pretty much alright, but the service was really slow. I wouldn't suggest this place if you are hungry - you will have to starve quite long until you get your food. As we entered the restaurant we asked three service personnel for a table. Their answer was always: "you have to ask the lady in red dress". We did, then the red dress lady pointed at another lady wearing the same red dress. Obviously only that lady can assign tables and take orders (we were also not able to place order to other personnel). Looks like there is a very strict division of rolls, but it is extremely inefficient for service. We had a simple meal, a main dish and glass of wine, but it still took us like forever until we could finally pay and get out of there - simply because of the slow service.

Local charm, warm and cozy lodge-like atmosphere. Delectable deer-sausage brat and sauerkraut main dish for less than 6 euros (WOW)! Austrian red wine is priced just right. Traditional German/Austrian salads with pickled veggies were tasty and fresh. We sat upstairs in non-smoking, which was just as welcoming as down. We are coming back for another meal before we leave Gmunden!

Had lunch from the reduced set menu as this was the only choice between Christmas and New Year. Not that we would have missed anything or that our special dietary requirements would not have been catered for. Fabulous food, extremely flexible, friendly and authentic service, and definitely a restaurant to go back to on my next visit. Superb.

Our great-grandfather, the old Hois´ has been known over 100 years ago, why he chose this place on the banks of Lake Traunsee for his restaurant.Be it the bright, welcoming reception area or our seminar and conference rooms with appropriate equipment for
We had a nice lunch here with friendly service and a great location. It was a warm summer day so we could sit on the very large terrace. Prices are fine and good selection on the menu. You can stay in the gasthof too and it is possible to go here by ferry. Family with babies: There is a baby changing room upstairs on the second floor - go up by the elevator.

The gourmet meeting place in the Seehotel Restaurant "Bootshaus". A gourmet restaurant directly built on a boathouse: modern interpretation with proper style materials and elements - to contemporary art on the walls. Our chef Lukas Nagl sets the tone here
We came for dinner, and were very pleased. The menu is diverse, and the fresh lake fish was excellent, as was my curry rizotto and our fresh vegetable salads. The service was friendly, polite and efficient, ans spoke English. They are open year-round, and accept credit cards-- highly recommended.Dear guest!Thank you very much for your positive remark and we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us that much!We are looking forward to welcoming you soon again!Best regards from Lake Traunsee, Family Gröller & Team

What could have been a very good experience at this restaurant turned into a very average one at best. We came here based on the reviews plus there are not many choices for restaurants in this area. When we arrived the restaurant it was busy but there were a number of empty tables in a front section. One of the staff said that they were booked but could get us a table in the back. Thought that would be ok but little did we know that it was a dedicated room for smokers and I really mean smokers! We are from California and it was unbearable. We asked if we could sit somewhere else and he said that it would be at least a 40 minute wait. Being very hungry and a bit tired having driven in from Vienna just before dinner, we decided to just try and bear it. The staff member tried to be helpful by opening another door to help the air circulate a bit more but it didn't help matters much. I had dined in Paris restaurants before the ban in January of 2008 and had never seen this many diners smoke at the frequency that the ones in our section did. The term "chain smokers" was most applicable here. The food was actually very good as was the pricing. The service was also attentive and efficient. So what could have been an enjoyable dinner with solid food and service ended up being marginal at best. I originally wanted to give a poor rating but felt that it would been a much better experience in the non smoking part of the restaurant. Also on the way out and believe me we didn't stay that long, I saw that the front section that was supposed to have been reserved had only 2 tables occupied out of 7. That was a bit disturbing. We also had to air out our clothes on our balconies and take another shower it was that bad. If you do come here and are sensitive to cigarette smoke, don't even contemplate taking a table in that room. It's just much better to wait if you can. Hopefully the country of Austria will ban smoking in restaurants one day.

Great place to stay during your holiday. Excellent for families with kids. The food is quite decent and a la carte gives you ample choice. The place is build for families with kids, with good sized rooms with a separate bedroom for the kids with bunk beds. Kids will enjoy the slide to the toilets. The hotel is on the slope so after breakfast you can take of to the lift or down to the village. In the afternoon the last lift can always take you back to enjoy a late afternoon beer on the terrace and watch the other skiers going down to the village. In the evening the place is very quiet and you can enjoy a drink with other guests in the bar.
